I became a teenage mother at 17 and a married teen, which inevitably didn't work out early on. I totally in no way assumed a man would take on me and my son. I ended up meeting who became my husband in my life group at church when I was 23. He was honest and told me later that he didn't want to be with a woman with children, but we got to know each other for 6 months before he asked me out in a date. That was smart of him to have that boundary, and he has been the biggest blessing to my son and I. We have had 3 children since, and he is extremely patient. We put God first and foremost, and are trying to raise our children to be wonderful spouses for others someday. I use this term losely. The last two women I dated. I broke things off with them because one was just for fun around my birthday. The other was locked into the friendzone because we became friends when I was going through a divorce. Then her drama was not something I wanted even when I was open to a relationship. Just want to say the “ring” is also something some women compare a lot with each other either secretly or not. So no the ring doesn’t mean anything. Especially nowadays the “engagement ring” is pretty much a scam. My parents got married in the late 80s barely had a wedding spend maybe 80$ for each ring (just the wedding band), both young and poor, made it work all the years with or without money, raised a child and paid off all the their debts late 30s, lived a simple but happy life, worked hard, enjoyed family. If my mother didn’t die of cancer 2 years ago they would be just as content being together. I watched them, it wasn’t always easy, but they worked on it. Sorry for the rant, but I hope someday this type of relationship become more normalize then whatever the hell is going on nowadays
