Prince Zardos Understand but it has not been one time since he’s done that he under stood that it took more then him and in that moment. Scottie in my opinion felt it was his time at that particular moment against that particular team, that constantly owned him up into that series. I don’t know about you I watched at least 50 something bulls games that year MJ was gone and kukoc was balling he easily started to look like an emerging Luca that year. He hit at least 4 game winners so in any sport you simulate pressure situations as much as possible even MJ referenced this many times during his time in the league and as I know when we had to practice two minutes drills at the end of practice for football to get our body, adrenaline and lacked acid build up during a fight or flight situation. So if tony had shown that more then once I would have given him the ball as well, because he’s done it it’s in his muscle memory, his body can function during the pressure. Scottie in that situation made it about him and I have seen that before in games dudes literally gave up on us because things didn’t go their way. I didn’t respect that then nor do I now but I get why Scottie felt slighted but in that situation gotta take your ego out of it. I’m pretty sure Phil wanted to give it to him and I’m sure the knicks figured he would get the ball until they saw he wasn’t in the game which probably threw them off even more on defense. Also when it comes to winning every single play is a biggie because it takes a single play that can lead to a debacle or momentum swing.

Yeah! I was kinda struck by that response myself. I get why he felt disrespected but remember Jordan was also underpaid by the Bulls when he played even though he was a worldwide phenomenon. I don't think he would've even considered that option given the stakes at that moment because there were times Jordan deferred to his teammates like Paxson or Kerr taking the last shot because the play made sense, most likely Jordan would have made the shot but that besides the point. Basketball is a team sport, I would have thought that looking back at that moment after all these years Pippen's perspective would have changed and his response would have been different after seeing the bigger picture that winning is the main goal but oh well.

This Scottie Pippen bashing is crazy. Scottie had a valiant overall 1994 series against the Knicks and was a BAD Hugh Hollins call away from possibly leading the Bulls to the Finals WITHOUT Mike. And for many years he was grossly UNDERPAID in a league that was tearing up and redoing contracts all over the league for players Scottie regularly BEAT on the court. Scottie Pippen is arguably the least understood and appreciated NBA star ever.

I though it was interesting that Pippen stated that while he apologized he flat out said he would probably do it again if he was put in the same situation. Clearly he isn't really sorry and doesn't regret it. With all due respect to Pippen I watched 100s of bulls games and I don't remember him making many last second shots to win games and he wasn't really a great shooter. Young Blood That’s debatable, I wouldn’t personally say that but you’d definitely have a case. Pippen’s problem was limited touches and usage due to being on a team w/ Jordan. But given the same amount of opportunities Pippen can do much more on both ends. However Wade was really good and MVP caliber for a couple of seasons which is hard to do.
@dannyllerenatv86354 жыл бұрын
Pippen is overrated and underrated at the same time. He is overrated by people who think LBJ is the GOAT and underrated by people who worship MJ. Pippen is not as good as a prime D-Wade, but he is as great as you can ask a second fiddle to be. Also to be fair, pippen going father than MJ without him is only a half truth. The 93-94 bulls heavily retooled and there were other players on that team breaking out looking for a payday. The portland trailblazers of the late 90s early 2000s are one of the most talented teams on paper that never won a chip. They were just as talented and loaded as the Lakers, Spurs and Kings were at that time, but that team was dumb as bricks IQ wise and were riddled with conduct problems. Pippen was also playing an Andre Iguodala role on that team since he was a shell of himself at that point. Pippen started declining around 96-97.
@parawill70744 жыл бұрын
While watching that Knicks game, I 100% agreed with Scottie being pissed.....BUT, you can't be a player on a team that decides to quit during the game. Phil told MJ that he needed to change his game and get his teammates involved and what did MJ do? Did he run to management to get Phil fired? No. Did he throw Phil under the bus to the media? No. Did he become a cancer on the team and challenge Phil's authority? No. MJ got in line and began to get his teammates involved more and not think about getting his all the time. Scottie had the correct emotions, but didn't have the discipline to compartmentalize them in that moment and follow Phil's play. He blew it back then and he blew again decades later in the documentary by stating that he wouldn't have changed anything. The incident was a stain, but the Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen took a massive hit to his legacy due to his own words. He can't separate his emotions from being a professional. People tried to come at MJ for calling him selfish over the surgery and Scottie validated it by saying he wouldn't change the WORST moment of his career. It was so ironic to see Toni nail that shot and for Scottie to realize how was wrong he was in that moment. Of course he cried in the locker room because he fully expected for Toni to miss. He needed that miss to validate his horrible decision and it was great to see Toni take it away and make him OWN it. Toni making that shot still haunts Scottie to this day.

He got upset bec he felt Phil didnt trust his clutchness and instead trusted Kukoc in clutch situations. We saw how many times Kukoc hit the game winner in that season on which Phil designed for him. And remember Scottie and MJ didnt like Kukoc's ariival with the Bulls bec he was Krause's new darling. But Pippen should've waited til the game ended and address his issue with Phil in the locker room.
