Sterkowski Hats Baker Boy/Newsboy/Peaky Blinders style flat cap unboxing

Thanks for the review. I have always worn hats. I have hats and a couple of flatcars that I wear frequently. Recently I decided I I must have a newsboy style cap. I like what you have and will check out Sterkowski tonight. Both Scotland and Ireland make good versions of these hats in good quality tweed, as well. This is a good time to support the Polish economy.

The apple symbol is a trademark for Harris Tweed. Hebrides (pronounced heh-bree-dees) are Scottish Islands. Another popular type of tweed is Donegal Tweed (originating in Ireland). Real shame most sports jackets made right now are Italian style made of italian fabrics, and a good tweed jacket is hard to find.

@@prodigaljess It has arrived and I love it. I have already had the chance to determine that it is water resistant. This is not be my last bit of head gear to get from Sterkowski. I was very pleased with how quickly it arrived.

Nice. Yeah, this is the Peaky Blinders model. I could probably pull off the Shelby too. I was looking at the cotton Shelby b/c it's hot as blazes here in FL right now. But, surprisingly, the wool cap is not bad for casual daily wear here. I wouldn't wear it for a long walk in the sun or any kind of exertion, but it's fine for a trip to a restaurant or the store.

If you pull off the peaky, then the Shelby would work..., just a bit smaller. Actually, I have 3 Shelby's, the Rambler and now the Peaky. Very nice caps. May look at a Fiddler cap next. The Rambler is quilted (heavily) making an awesome winter cap for these parts (Kentucky). But the Shelby's and Peaky's aren't, so you can get some wear time even on the hot days. I'd call that a shroom cap. I wear 1 and it's 2 sizes bigger than my head so I have a mushroom head whilst wearing it. The good thing I like about oversized hat in general is that you give off that "little boy in big world" look in the right context

Thank you for this video and your insight. And I completely concur with and appreciate your decisions for geo-political reasons! Coincidentally, I'm planning to buy the exact same cap as yours. Except I'm looking at a black one. And for some reason, the one that I'm looking at has a leather sweatband. But it's essentially the same, medium size crown. I'd always preferred the medium to large crown, just to afford a bit of "floppiness", for lack of better expression. I do have a practical question. From what material is the visor made from. Or in other words, is the visor impermeable, or not? Another thing: Not meaning to digress, but just from the t-shirt that you're wearing and your obvious taste in hats, I suspect that you're part of the lindy hop/swing dance scene(?). I happen to be a trumpet player and expat, who currently lives in Copenhagen. And I frequently work the lindy hop/swing dance scene, here in Copenhagen, Throughout Sweden and occasionally New York, whenever I'm in the city for my annuals. In any case, thanks again! Good eye, my friend. Yes, I was a Lindy Hopper, Balboa Dancer and swing dancer generally for about a decade. That shirt is from DCLX 2008. The visor is stiff, not sure if it's cardboard or some other material...seems pretty durable and stiff. I haven't really tried to bend or shape it. As far as if it's impermeable or not, I couldn't say. What do they usually make these visors from? Anyone know? Feel free to chime in.

@@prodigaljess the peaky blinders model is wider (shelby is a bit narrower), but I found it wears nice if you cock it a bit to the side (I have both a shelby in grey harris tweed, and the peaky blinders in the new black/brown herringbone I just picked up.
