It's a real shame what injuries did to his pro career. He could've been one of the greats

Sort of like those top-tier RBs who always fall forward for two extra yards, Emtman was always doing that in the backfield. Even when he was squared up and effectively blocked, he would fall into the backfield and either disrupt the play or get a hand on the ball carrier.

this guy was a terror ... but those knee injuries, god damn

It's really sad his NFL career didn't pan out. Those knee injuries especially playing on astroturf when he was with the Colts really shortened his career. If he played today, he would have had a longer career.

Even by 90s standards 290lbs wasn't abnormally large for a DT. What made Emtman special was his technique. The way he would uses his hands, gain leverage and exploit was exceptional. I remember when he would get into games late as a RS Freshman and he'd show glimpses of what he was going to become. Steve wasn't a steroid user. You can tell steroid muscles and body types. That wasn't Steve. If you want to see steroids in a football look up Arizona's Rob Waldrop

Do people say he was on the juice? I’ve never heard anything about that before.

Dude was an all-time DT. A complete all-time beast. I would say only Warren Moon was a better Husky. But man, how the heck did he become a bust, in the NFL.....?

Blew out both knees. Not his fault. Idiots who said he did roids' didn't know this guy. If roided out, he would've been 350+.

Warren Moon wasn’t even that good as a Husky

He was good an absolute Terror in college but he blew out his knee in the 9th game against the Dolphins in the pros he look promising but his career would have been a lot different I think ifhe never got hurt plus they would have had to move into defensive end because this is the time when the Dallas Cowboys were winning the Super Bowls with 330-340lb offensive lineman and he was a 280 wet you would have had to move him to defensive end like a JJ Watt.

Glorify steroids... amazing... from 180 to 280. The awkward laughs say it all. And it wasnt just him. Others on that defense would openly talk about their steroid use. But bulldoze away.

You just don't see lineman that big with no fat.Steve was built like a giant RB or LB.
