Steve is the man. Anyone else think that snare sounds CRANKED tight? I mean, it sounds good, just really tight.

He has a 6.5 inch snare sounding like a piccolo snare. It sounds good but a little too high for my taste..I bet if it was dropped down a little it would sound better but what do I know..He's the star drummer right?

Haha, you did hear the part where he mentioned playing for SONNY ROLLINS and KEITH RICHARDS, right? Don't think they could have their pick of any drummer alive? This dude is IT - ask anyone who knows a pocket when they hear it.

Glad they didn't did the gold lugs on the final version. Clubs sound amazingly good. Vintage sound, which was the intention, both in clubs and stadiums. Funny somethings aren't even possible to get for a a drummer like Steve (3 instead of 4 plies)

Drums sound the same. Wrap or finish. The shell is a speaker cabinet. The heads are the sound. All hype.
@spencergsmith
@spencergsmith Жыл бұрын
Heads predominantly effect the initial tone (attack), while the drums MAJORLY effect the resonance tone.

johnny albit My thing is if that Interdependence/Independence/Artsy Fartsy stuff gets you gigs...So be it! If you can play to a click with those ideas and land on the 1 with those ideas without stepping on anyone's toes SO BE IT. OR MY FAVORITE...IF THE MUSIC CALLS FOR IT...do what you need to do. Thing is Most guys that can do that understand groove,feel and time and fundamentals as well but most people rave over that fact and forget that those "Fancy" players understand groove as well. Then you have guys like Steve Jordan,Steve Gadd,Chris Dave,Abraham Laboriel Jr,Dennis Chambers,Ricky Lawson and others that can groove your face off and surprise you when they're allowed a bit of freedom. NO NEED TO HATE!

One of the greatest drummers ever!! unfortunately the Club custom product is really not worth the bucks it costs.. not even close.. i've recut the edges of two such kits in an effort to make them come just a bit alive.. the wood (Kapur) is really not good.. it might be eco friendly.. fine by me.. but they are not great versatile drums.. which is kind of weird because Steve IS exactly that: versatile!. please TRY the kit before you buy it. Also the build quality are NOT up to Yamaha standards!
@musiqsoundsproductions
@musiqsoundsproductions 6 жыл бұрын
The Club Custom was one of the best kits Yamaha made in the Japanese factory. Kapur is also in the top line, the PHX (I play a kit and it sounds amazing, also partly because of the Kapur).
