Pearl watching Steven sleep is akin to a new parent watching their baby sleep in case they like, spontaneously stop breathing. At least that's how it feels to me. Gems don't sleep so from their perspective every night Steven has to just go unconscious for 8 hours and who KNOWS what could happen to him during that time.

Yeah the gems are surprisingly well adjusted to human society even though they come from a completely different species and culture with completely different needs. Gems don’t need to eat, drink, or sleep, those three things drove like 90% of human societal development.

I feel like Pearl saying 'He doesn't want me to watching him sleeping anymore' is much more of a simple thing. It's worded as if Steven had asked her to watch him sleep, and Steven is very much a kid, so I believe is something like he might have had nightmares or be afraid of something silly like a monster under his bed and asked Pearl to stay with him while he slept, which from what we know about gems, they are more of doing things quite literally, so now that Steven realised Pearl was watching him sleeping and told her to not because of course, she's just confused of the 'why not'.

Yes, the opening at the bottom of the statue is the temple before they built the house around it. You'll get a peek of that if you watched the extended opening of the Steven universe opening. I highly recommend you watch it between season 1 and 2 since it has scenes from season 1 as memory flashes.

People were giving you guys so much flack for "talking over" or "missing" important bits of dialogue but it's super evident how much you guys are into the series so far, and I'm looking forward to more reactions!! Also props to SeeOhKnee for mentioning that the warps are broken from the Earth end of things. Puzzle pieces are slowly filling, but the mystery still only grows with each episode :)

Ah... airing order... (Alone Together is supposed to be before Warp Tour), hopefully y'all are going by the intended order by the end of the season or its gonna get a little confusing. Anyway, I LOVE Lion 3, it's my second favorite episode of the show. I think this episode is what switched my like of the show to a love. The tape is so good... sadly I've watched this episode a little too many times that the impact of the tape has been a little lost with time Edit: I love Steven and Sadie's relationship too! It has big sister younger brother energy

I think it's cuz they don't know the complete fragility of humans so they're worried because humans are fragile I think it's a worry of he might stop breathing at any point so they just want to keep checking cuz they really can't tell the difference between a human that's dead and a human that's asleep as messed up as that might be.....

U r starting to figure things out... The reason Pearl told the others to watch Steven sleep was stated in the episode. She did it because she was worried lion would suffocate him. She herself does it for her enjoyment (and maybe because Steven is Rose's son). As for ep36, it's really quite unfortunate that the gems once again don't trust Steven and underestimate his abilities. They demand so much from him, yet take so little of his ideas seriously. Kinda unfair imo.

"The Crystal Gems" is the name of their little team on Earth - like a superhero team kind of name. Probably Steven's idea. Any other gem is just a gemstone. It's something like having a team of people called "The Fleshy Humans" or "The Porous Earthlings" or "The Squishy Mortals."
