I completely agree with you. I used this for a DVD project I did for a girl I liked ( girl half my age) and I was trying to give her a sense of who I was because we just sort of danced around things and I know she liked me (I have no idea why lol) but it was so perfect and it gave me such a chill the first time I watched it right before this project. I've watched it over and over again. I was not part of that generation (graduating from HS in 1988) but I was always kind of that political sentiment of FDR and JFK and the dream though I admit it's a rough ugly business with so many pretenses. The girl I gave that to I know was touched --she was like me I think ironically and I hope it spoke to her and her generation. It's a great video to tell the story a time when we didn't hate each other yet we did but we tried to right wrongs --today that isn't happening and people don't care anymore. It's always a dream --but nobody dares to dream anymore and if they do they are shot down, crucified and slaughtered. Sad. I think Stevie was speaking to that as much as to the history of this country.

I don't understand the message. Kennedy didn't do much, and the rebuttal will be "well because he was assassinated" I think he is credited with changing the tide of the Democratic party in not being tied to the KKK, but he was good at speaking that in speeches. LBJ carried it forward, but it's clear it was to ensure the African American Vote rested in the Democratic Party for generations to come. I'm sure if a Republican was in office that they would have had the same discourse with Martin Luther King Jr. and the movement as well. Seemed to have all happened organically

Thank you for the brilliance that is you Stevie Nicks. I love that this is a story - much more than a song. Your blog says everything for me. I agree and your blog is so beautiful. The video is hauntingly powerful and so many beautiful and important people in this video “ the people who can show us the way”. The good hearted way the righteous way the way of love and no discrimination. The images of the people protesting make my throat hurt and choke up. The man with the white face with the word “vote” on his forehead, the posters and images of George Floyd which I haven’t been able to watch the news ever since the cruel, cruel death of George Floyd something deep inside me couldn’t handle seeing anything else like that again. I m watching the news again because I have to keep up with this horrible Delta virus. I’m even nervous blogging right now because I’m thinking about what happen to George Floyd and his family. How will that family live without him , how will George Floyd’s family live with those images of what was done to him. It was so criminal and deliberate! Anytime I hear his name I try to run out of the room or put my hands over my ears .. too much pain for me so how in the world is that family living life with the past... my heart swells up and hopeful for the Floyd family that they are strong and staying close to one another. For me this is a very important song and video. And I will never forget John Lewis and his greatness and his powerful story. Thank god he had those chickens . For so many families things have already improved in just the short time Biden has taken the reigns (why judge his term without giving it a chance?) while the other one who cheated his way into the office & never respected it STILL is spreading dangerous lies that have been proven wrong by people of all parties, in so many different situations even court & lawsuits (which make the truth actually come out look at what Sydney & Hannity said after theirs they’d fight it if they had any credibility), etc. He truly has narcissistic issues & our country is already safer not having him “lead” it. Not to mention the most un-American display of an attempted coup that HE promoted & definitely didn’t stop. There is so much that is fascist/dictator inspired there & it’s horrifying how close we’ve gotten to that being unleashed in the Land of the Free. Biden being RIGHTFULLY elected shows the TRUE majority & ethics of our country showing that the evil of those types of corruption cannot consume us. But we shouldn’t even be getting this close either...

Wow. I´m not an American and normally I don´t tend to become too emotional listening to music, but I´m sitting here feeling it, having a real tear running down my cheek out of nowhere. What a wonderful piece of music - so many layers, so fresh and nonetheless so 80s. The background synthesizer behind all the instruments...don´t know what to say, this is written and put together so unbelievably well, thank you Stevie Nicks

Just came across this. Didn’t care for the first six lines. Then the songs kicks. Wow the cadence and drums. Wtf - who is the drummer. Later found out it’s Dave Grohl. Explains the power drive. The second half of the song blew me away. Love that it’s not a song. It’s an epic tale. Longer the better. Nicks is at a place in her vanguard where she does as she pleases. Needs no permission. Needs no handout. She has past all benchmarks. Bravo Steve. Good health to you and if we don’t get back to arena shows for the next several years keep releasing whatever inspires you
