@alansquared10 жыл бұрын
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Comedy is subjective. But to suggest that things can only be funny provided someone suffers is ridiculous. A lot of great comedy is made at the expense of others and I'm sure a lot of people get a kick out of needlessly offending people in the most gratuitous and artless of ways but that's not the only source of humour. Of course he doesn't like Top Gear, it's a comedy show and it's obvious from his standup that he doesn't understand humor.

Top Gear is meant to be taken with a pinch of salt, its erreverent and funny all this hoo haa about a number plate is rediculous, James May's interview on Absolute Radio yesterday explained it all succinctly - look it up as for this bloke i've never heard of him.. no really Stewart Lee who !!
@dfoster25135 жыл бұрын
People like top gear because its beautiful cars being driven around beautiful locations by three guys having a good laugh, it's escapism, it's entertaining and has many millions of viewers globally. You on the other hand aren't funny, aren't cleaver and you're just trying to get cheap laughs by going after someone who's infinetely more successful than you... So I'd be more conscious of the drivel that comes out of your mouth. If you are actually a comedian try telling some jokes.

It's possible to enjoy TG while acknowledging Clarkson is a knob. I stopped watching it just because for me it jumped the shark. Lee is spot-on when he likens Clarkson, Hammond and May to The Three Bears. But if Hammond is Baby Bear and May is Daddy Bear, doesn't that make Clarkson Mummy Bear? 'Hmm - could comparing Clarkson to a female be sexist? Better not go there.'

I've never heard of this guy, but my first impression is that he comes across as a left-wing Jeremy Clarkson. Either way I can't stand either of them.

I suppose in much the same way this guy can’t relate to the top gear audience, which you know is always campaigning against women’s and gays rights (I guess I have yet to see that episode?!); I can’t quite relate to this type of guy. You know, the scared shivering man terrified of the patriarchy & NPC comedians, who have to yell racist and homophobe at the slightest sign of someone who doesn’t agree with him politically. The one who thinks he’s making the world a better place by participating in what he believes to be alternative, underground PC comedy and values despite the fact that it’s pretty much all that’s being funded by mainstream media atm. I’m not saying he’s wrong or should be unable to do this, just that he shouldn’t delude himself into thinking he’s doing anything different, or that he is above those who don’t.

I mean I think I've watch Top Gear a total of three times in my life and it seems alright I guess. I would never go out of my way to watch it, I don't even think I would watch it if it was the only thing TV. I would preferably enjoy watching the nature channel and see baby loins eat each other honestly.

@@lewiscoacher7781 Don't blame me for that. Blame David Attenborough for recording it and putting it on TV so that I could watch it.

I didn't realise "being a comedian" meant talking bollocks all evening, whilst at the same time not being even remotely funny. I may have to give up the day job......
@tomthomas970811 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised one of Stewart's patronising fans hasn't lectured you on not being intelligent enough to understand his comedy. They often give the uneducated such as ourselves lectures on irony in particular. You're right though, he is shit.
@johnniejay11 жыл бұрын
tom thomas This is "Emperor's New Clothes" comedy...Lee fans laugh at jokes that aren't even there, safe in the knowledge that this is elitist comedy for intellectuals, and that every one else who doesn't find it funny is simply incapable of "getting it". I do get it, and it's shit. You really need to peel away the veil of pretense to expose the charlatan beneath where this guy is concerned. Herring was definitely the brains behind this outfit.....

shinjinobrave And your pretentious enough to find this kind of "humour" mind blowing. tom thomas It would appear as though you were right, a Lee acolyte has arrived to condemn our opinions, and cast aspersions over our lack of intelligence. Better late than never, but still entirely predictable.
