My husband is not vegan but as I do all the cooking he basically is by default. 😊 when I say I am trying a new recipe he gets a bit worried. But when I say it is one of Wil Yeung’s he is “well if it is one of Wil’s that will be ok, I love Wil”😂 and this recipe was no exception. Delicious!

I grew up with a Chinese best friend who was also my neighbor. Her family was from Hong Kong and they all spoke Cantonese. I used to love going to her house because her mom and grandma made the most delicious food! I come from a Mexican household so the flavor palette was just so different than what i was used to. Okay, just came back from cooking this to write the comment. First let me just say I was forced to use normal chili flakes instead of gochugaru, olive oil instead of chili oil and fish sauce instead of plant based oyster sauce. I'm not sure about the quality of the substitutes but I really didn't mind. The taste was unlike anything I've had before. Well, it doesn't beat my top 3 favourite dishes, but probably scores in top 5. It was something completely different that I had ever tried, and i was stunned by it. I was eating it confused and only stopped to think when I was about to grab a second portion. And one of the best parts is that the recipe is vegan, so after all of this I get to feel better for not buying meat. The amazing quality of the recipes, as well as the gorgeous visual presentation in the videos coupled with relaxing music make this channel like a hidden gem, I'm so lucky to have found it stumbling around my recommended one day.

Just made these tonight! We used Barilla whole-wheat spaghetti. Sometimes whole-wheat spaghetti kind've kills a dish, but the sauce here seemed like it would be so strong that it wouldn't matter...and it didn't. It would also be good with Udon noodles. We doubled it and got four servings with a side dish of stir-fried baby bok choy. Obviously this is wide open to additions - off the top of my head this recipe screams for mushrooms sautéed a deep brown, and sautéed red bell pepper would also be nice. Come to think of it, some chopped and sautéed kale would probably be good as well. I'll definitely make thisd one again. Thanks for the great recipe Will!

I think you could really elevate that simple recipe by adding marinated soft boiled egg on top of it, so the yolk would mix with the sauce well, and also instead of adding all spring onion to the tofu, you could add half, and cut half diagonally, adding it raw as a garnish at the end. But overall I'm keen on trying your recipe, thank you for that amazing content!
