I’ve tried a couple of patterns, paid a fortune for a tutorial (that only showed me how to do a hems!) and was ready to give up! I’m 5’....and no idea how to alter patterns....just found this, I’ve subscribed. Thank you, please keep the tutorials coming.....I may just try again...

Thank you for this. I am learning to sew because as a petite I find it hard to get rtw clothes to fit. Learning how to make these adjustments will be so helpful and I look forward to your next film.

Awesome video. It’s interesting how different we all are. Surprisingly I sometimes need to shorten bodices and I’m 5ft8”. Knowing how to adjust for length makes a HUGE difference to how our projects fit. This info is GOLD.

Thank you so much this is really informative. I’m just 4’ 11 1/2” and have to adjust bodices and leg lengths all the time. Would love you to do more on this subject. 💕

I'm so glad you find it helpful Sarah. Not knowing these things nearly had me ready to give up in the beginning. If there's a particular question you come up with, please ask 😁

I’d be particularly interested in neckline and bodice adjustments. I’m pear shaped so small across the shoulders, bust and waist and bigger hips and tummy (the joys of menopause and post hysterectomy). I struggle with neckline and shoulder fit most. These videos are so useful and you make it all look so easy. I’d love to see more if you have the time. x

thank you! I'm petite and frustrated with the what's available to me in the stores, so I am trying to learn to sew. I think you did a great job explaining how certain areas of our body can be smaller or larger and how to measure. I've subscribed and I am looking forward to any/all petite and alteration related videos you have!

Great information Ms. Vivian! I remember when I used to (emphasis on “used to”) sew for others and get paid, I had a client who was 4’9” and almost all of the adjustments you mentioned I had to make when creating her clothes! Your video will be of great assistance to those in need of these adjustments for sure!

Very good information on petite adjustments, so thank you! I just realized that I avoid patterns with anything but basic length adjustments. If I consider making the some of the other adjustments you mentioned it would open up so many possibilities of other patterns/styles I could use.

Hi from England. Thanks for this video. Fitting is the most difficult part of dressmaking, I have found that by taking all these measurements I seem a peculiar shape, but I am sure that I am not (well not that much anyway!). So being petite, post menapause, being wide around the middle, having a very small upper chest, I could go on! Seeing some-one else talk about the alterations gives me confidence.

Great information here. I'm not petite (5'6'') but ow pleasing to hear someone say being petite is nothing to do with weight/girth x
@StitchesSeams5 жыл бұрын
I always wanted just a few more inches lol. I was always under the impression petite meant weight/girth as well. It was heartening to hear that doesn't matter one iota!

I am 6” and my dil is 4’9” and my son has assured her I can sew her a dress! I am terrified. I am used to adding 6 “ to patterns! I mostly do crafts although I certainly sewed my entire wardrobe in the past. I have never had to do a FBA or anything else. But after watching this I have some good ideas and will try to make these adjustments. She has a 40 bust and 36 hips. I will see how this goes! Thanks for the video!
