So glad I saw this. Thankyou. I'm the lucky owner of my Grt Grt Grandmother's unfinished quilt, 'Grandmother's Garden' design , with pieced hexagons. I call it Hannah's Quilt. It's about 4/5 completed. She died when she was 96 after sailing to Australia from Essex in 1857, married a Retired British Redcoat and settled in a tiny country town called Delegate. He died early leaving her with 10 children, including a one yr old. She sewed clothing for the townspeople and the quilt is made from all that spare fabric. The paper pieces in the back are from a catalogue from a large supplies store in Sydney called Hordern Brothers Emporium , which was where country people ordered most of their belongings. The images from the paper pieces are wasp waisted corsettes and babies layettes from mid to late 1800's. It's amazing how bright the colours of the clothing fabric were. I had an Australian quilt historian Annette Gero look at it and she said some of the fabric came from the UK , she must have had it in her storagechest when she sailed over. We also have the chest.Apparently she was a mender of fine linin for Queen Victoria, was given a pin cushion as a gift from QVic when she left England, and became a sponsored migrant. Who knows. It's very fragile so don't think I'll be completing it. I do cherish it.

I enjoy your videos so much because they take me back to my childhood growing up on our farm. Just listening to the chickens brings back so many memories-also your gardening and quilting. We had a huge garden, but my mom somehow found the time to make quilts and doll clothes for my baby dolls. I learned to sew and quilt by watching her. Hi Kate. You have stitched the hexagon so perfect, looks like one piece, you certainly have bounds of patience. Yes the adverts are annoying, but it won't put me off viewing. I agree too that you should get some money for the ads. Like you said Kate, it's how things are. Liked how you just dug in with bare hands in the soil. That's a true gardener. Thank you Kate. 👍😊

Hi Kate, I love watching your content. I appreciate when a channel has ads at the end of the video. When I really enjoy a podcast I let the ads at the end run all the way through as a thank you. :)
