What humble performance says is not what the majority of the race scene says. When you say stock block, they mean stock bottom end, especially in the Honda community. When they say built, it means rods/pistons, and when they say sleeved, well you get the picture. On all the Honda forums (the few that are still around) when you look at records for stock block cars, they always give the description 100% stock bottom end, the way it cam from the factory.
@jv07tundra3816 жыл бұрын
jcoopers06 I been out of the racing scene for too long now but yes, i agree with you about the street racing scene’s definition of a stock block. On the other hand, being technical HP is correct by the standard definition of a stock block or BARE block. If you were to go order a stock block from the dealership, chances are you will be getting a BARE block and not a short block unless the short block is the only way it comes. Lol, some how I’m ok with both sides of the story due to the fact about the street racing scene’s definition. I can also see HP kicking off a trend here and soon everyone will be in agreed with them.

Stock block means stock bottom end with stock rods and pistons. If they have rods and pistons it should be mentioned that it’s a stock sleeve block. If it’s a stock sleeve block with css it’s now a css block, same if it’s sleeved with golden eagle sleeves. That block now is a golden eagle sleeve block.

Interesting! Below is the guideline that I’ve used and learned, even till today (16years+). Never got it confused and always works. I guess it depends where you’re from. But that’s what we called it, from my area with all respect. Usually refer as: 1) Stock Block or Bone Stock Block = OEM Pistons/Rods 2) Built Block or BB w/Stock Sleeves = Aftermarket Pistons/Rods and including CSS if it has it. 3) Fully Built Block = Sleeves, Pistons/Rods or even with a bigger Crank aka (Stroker Kit) We (West Coast) keep it simple, vice versa goes with the head. But it’s common sense when you talk to someone, you should be able to catch what they’re saying. Good info!! Thanks Humble Performance🙏 #westcoast 🌊 #whereitallstarted 🙌 #californialove📍 #therealones☝️

To help some confusion that is still occurring. How Stock unmodified engines are commonly referred as: “Stock engine” “Stock longblock” “Bone stock” How engines with stock internals and stock blocks are commonly referred as: “Stock block with stock internals” “Stock shortblock” “Stock internals” “Stock bottom end” How an engine with modified internals are commonly referred as: “Stock block” “Factory block” “Stock sleeves” “Rod/Piston” Many people DO use the term “Stock block” to mean Stock bottom end, but it is typically always followed with “stock internals” or is clarified in some way to reinforce the fact the bottom end is entirely original. This is the guide to how engines will be referred on this channel. We’re not here to mislead anyone or chase any arbitrary record like the “fastest stock rod with modified piston in a blue EF in the Right lane on a Tuesday” Hope this clears confusion, thanks!

First thing is many people call the short block assembly just plain ol' block or bottom end or rotating assembly. Second, not all blocks have sleeves or are open deck so if this type of work can't be done to them are they still considered "stock block"?

literally no one says "stock block" referring to piston/rod motor. "stock block" is OEM below the head gasket. is your block casting stock? sure. sleeves stock? sure. the rest of the block? na. therefore its a piston rod motor. seriously. no one but you is going around saying theyre making xxx hp on a stock block when they have a piston/rod combo.

@@n0ti5 closed deck blocks usually come from the factory that way. Like the h22a for instance is a closed deck motor, but something such as a b18c that's a open deck motor
@n0ti56 жыл бұрын
@Drew Rich, i know, but where will a closed deck like the h22a or a cast iron block like a 3sgte come into play where they aren't sleeved? I'm just saying i don't agree with the terminology. Like saying "oh yeah its a stock head but It has ported/polished runners, oversized valves, dual valve springs, titanium retainers, 302 duration high lift cams but yeah the head is stock" or " yeah i have a full spherical bushing suspension, stitch welded seams, full lexan windows with a 10 point roll cage but the chassis is stock".
@drewrich10486 жыл бұрын
@@n0ti5 Lol I'm sure you're embellishing, but I understand. I think if a motor has pistons and rods that's not considered stock block personally. That sounds built to me. Stock block imo is completely stock bottom end. If somebody has upgraded cams and valves and stuff that's a built head to me just cause it isn't ported and shit doesn't mean anything to me.

once you replace the internals its no longer a "stock" head anymore. in other words it didnt come from the factory in that condition.

I understand his argument, but they're not parallel. A 'block' has multiple terms, a head does not. You have 3 distinct terms. Engine Block aka Block Short Block Long Block When you say head, it means the head, valves, springs, retainers, cams. If there were a 'short head' and 'long head', the argument would work, but it does not. I understand where he is coming from entirely.
@justa5oh1366 жыл бұрын
That would be a built head ..
