Here’s some advice with trail cameras: - Don’t be cheap. If you really want to catch something on your cameras invest in good cameras. - Trail cameras will not trigger very far away. Try to keep wherever you think your target is gonna be within 20-30 yards. - With a lot of trail cameras you need to put something behind the top of the camera, like a small branch, to keep the sensor facing slightly down. I can tell you from experience how important this is! - look into the new cellular cameras. I just bought 3 spypoint cameras and they send pictures right to your phone. The camera cost ~$150 and there’s either a monthly subscription or a yearly one. -LOCK YOUR CAMERAS! I know people who’ve had cameras stolen in the middle of massive pieces of private property. Like middle of nowhere. A rope lock will usually work just fine. If you’re trying to catch a trespasser, use a metal case to keep the SD card away from people who don’t want to be seen -Don’t forget where you put your cameras. Mark a spot on your phone or write yourself a note. -Don’t be afraid to mess with the settings. Change sensitivity, video/picture mode, time between pictures, whatever suits your fancy. If you follow these steps you will achieve the results you need. Take my word for it, and you’re gonna save a lot of time and anger.

Dope man!, I’m a fisheries biology major myself ! Btw you may want to take a peek at this, besides an aerator of some sort you also need to keep an eye on your pond temperatures during the summer. Keep this in mind, it could save your fish! “Our results indicate a decline in growth rate as temperature increases above 16°C in brook trout, and that the upper limit for their positive growth is 23.5°C. These results are in line with an extensive literature suggesting optimal growth of brook trout between 13°C and 16°C (Baldwin, 1956; Hokanson et al., 1973; Dwyer et al., 1983). None of these studies incorporated enough treatments above the optimal temperature to adequately describe brook trout growth at elevated temperatures. Nor did they test temperatures high enough to determine the upper limit for growth in brook trout. Wehrly et al. (2007) reported that brook trout are not found in waters above a 24 day mean maximum temperature of 22°C despite the fact that the lethal temperature in this species is 25.3°C (Fry et al., 1946; Fry, 1951; Wehrly et al., 2007). The fact that the ecological limit is more closely associated with temperature limitations on growth than it is with the lethal temperature suggests that temperature limitations on growth may play a key role in determining brook trout distributions.”(Chadwick McCormick 2017)

all those birch trees to tap in spring to make birch syrup! Lot of work, 100 gallons of sap to 1 gallon of syrup. But soooo tasty on pancakes.

You’re gonna need an aerator or those Brookies will die fast in a pond with almost no water movement or natural aeration

Yessss! Love Brookies, awesome addition to the lagoon man. If you’re worried about predatory birds eating your fish you could always put out a couple owl decoys to deter them. I believe they make some that are even motorized so the heads swivel.
