Júlio had been told by an Orthodontist in Sevenoaks, Kent, that the only way to straighten his teeth was to have 2 of them removed , then to wear train track braces and, then when his wisdom teeth would grow he would also have them removed. That didn’t sound right to me as I don’t like the idea of removing healthy teeth. I then spoke with a friend whose daughter was being treated by Professor Mew and she recommended him ( her daughter had been told that she would have to have 4 teeth removed for the same reasons) Júlio had his teeth straightened by Professor Mew without the need to have any teeth removed, his jaws were brought forward through some exercises that Julio was taught to do ( Mewing, etc…) and he’s now 25 years old, and he’s never had any problems with his wisdom teeth…

So basically this is how It works(I think): the whole point is that your palate is pulled down by the tongue weight thanks to the suction. The palate slowly over time gets pulled down and the lower half of the face rotates with its axis around the cheekbones. The nose and lips areas will mildly rotate forward while the maxilla will more apparently. Since the jaw is still attached to the skull though that will possibly elongate over time making space for the other teeth. It is a very long process but with the suction posture it is very easy to manage for very long periods.
@MrShaiya967 ай бұрын
@@LifeandLiesSyraincorrect. It does NOT pull the palate down. It pushes it up. Even in this clip you’re watching, he even says pushing isn’t bad because it’s pushing.pushing is bad because it’s not a natural resting state. He mentioned nothing about the suction supposed to be pulling instead.
@LifeandLiesSyra7 ай бұрын
@@MrShaiya96 while I understand your point saying that pushing is wrong or pulling is wrong does not make them exclusionary: the goal is push the upper lip/cheek area forward and the palate downward (due to the rotation of the area forward and down). You can literally do both to achieve that rotation. We can still disagree obv, no ill feelings.

@@mads365d the best way I started doing this was by trying to relax my throat by swallowing and moving my tongue once I got the hang out it. Although I was pushing instead of using suction but, if you do push against the roof of your mouth, slightly above your teeth where your gums are there is a line to rest the tip of your tongue. Use that as a place to rest the tongue and with the tip of your tongue you can go front to back on the roof of your mouth. Kinda like feeling for where you want your tongue to get suctioned to. Your tongue will get used to it when you remind yourself thought the day or even at night. Takes a couple of weeks to keep finding how to do it right. When you swallow your tongue tends to immediately relax into place like here in the video. Feel with your fingers the difference when your throat is relaxed as opposed to how it is normally. If you drink from a Gatorade waterbottle or anything that has suction you can practice like that too.

i've seen comments from people in their 60s saying they've gotten noticeable improvement from practicing proper tongue posture. i'm 39. i've always looked young for my age, even before mewing. instead of looking older, i just slowly became an uglier version of myself because of poor tongue posture over time haha i heard about mewing in my early-mid 30s but never gave it any serious thought because of all the negative buzz about how it doesn't work for older people. back in november 2023 - after my birthday - i decided to give it a real shot for one year as an experiment to see if there's any noticeable change. it's only been a little over six months, but i'm still seeing and feeling gradual improvements on a weekly basis. i've already gotten good results, but probably won't even achieve maximum results until the end of 2025. for the first two or three months, it really seemed like there's no progress at all - that's probably where a lot of naysayers gave up - but i didn't lose faith. i was doing a lot of hard mewing/tongue chewing, despite not seeing much change. but i just kept in mind that progress is expected to be much slower for older folks. i was more focused on loosening up the sutures in my skull. after about four months, i began to see a small improvement in the overall shape of my head. a few weeks ago, i realized i could snuggly fit my tongue against my soft palate, but i couldn't hold a suction for long. my tongue would begin to slip off as soon as i created the seal. but now my tongue can hold a seal for as long as i feel comfortable and i can vary the pressure/suction on either side of my mouth (against my molars). i think this will continue to get more comfortable as my palate slowly expands. i believe that creating enough expansion to fit your tongue is the hardest part (the first couple of months). i expect that progress will accelerate now that i can use my tongue to apply constant and consistent upward and outward pressure along my molars pretty much at will. i do not touch my front teeth. it probably won't turn me into a model or anything, but it has helped subtly even out my features and proportions so i feel less self-conscious as i used to

Wow I’ve had this problem for YEARS now and I could never understand what was wrong. I’ve had absolutely agonizing neck, jaw, and back pain for about 8 years now. This small video fixed all of that for me. I will continue to study this mewing and incorporate it in life so I can become “normal” again. This was amazing, thank you.

Please correct me if i am wrong. But isnt with simple physics, if the suction and the pressure is what is holding the tongue then if there is any acting force on the mouth roof it is pulling using the tongue weight downwards which is ironically the opposite of how it should fundamentally work?? And this is why i think only hard mewing(mewing by pushing) works.
@souvikbasumatary68639 ай бұрын
This is how it works I think - Push tongue on roof of mouth - suck out air between tongue and palette - air pressure will keep the tongue on the palette
@HyogeKitare9 ай бұрын
@@souvikbasumatary6863 u see the point if u think about it isnt necessarily to get the tongue to be up there, it is rather the upward force it exerts on the roof of the mouth so if the net force is downwards then i guess only hard mewing works which is actively pushing the tongue against the roof upwards

I for one will agree with you. I don't see how the suction itself can have any significant effect, as it just attaches the tongue to the roof. The force pushing the tongue to the roof is exactly the same as the force pulling the roof down to the tongue. I am confident our hero is mistaken here. It is the muscular push that acts on the maxilla.

Hi dr mew. When I mew my tongue hold suction on only the left side. Ironically my hole left side of the body is pushed backwards, so al my weight is on my left heel. Is there any therapy available to get better suction on both sides? Like cranial facial release of cranio sacral therapy, anything like that would help? Help from here or there would help because I'm kinda lost.

ngl I started “mewing” like 13-14 years ago when I was in 6th grade, way before it ever had a name (that I knew of). I’ve done it out of habit ever since. Not all the time obviously, but I’ll subconsciously do it while I’m walking around or sitting sometimes. I never really thought it’d have any prolonged effects on the jawline though or even considered that until this got popularized. and honestly?? I still don’t think it does lmao. i’m pretty sure it hasn’t done anything for my facial features even after all this time 💀
