Alot of people in the comments are asking: "Won't sleeping on my side create asymmetry?" Sleeping on your back was not the natural sleeping position of our ancestors. Lying flat on one's back on the uneven, hard surfaces of a cave or forest floor would have likely led to significant back pain. Anyone who has gone camping will be aware of this. Also, when you sleep on your back, it is more difficult to follow the tropic premise because gravity causes the lower jaw to drop, and the tongue to fall back into the throat. This is supported by the fact that more people snore when sleeping on their back than on their side, causing them to mouth breath. If you sleep on your side, you can keep your jaw from dropping by using a pillow for support, and suction-based mewing should be enough to keep breathing through the nose.

Very interesting, as so many say that sleeping on the back is the "correct" way to sleep. I trained myself to be a back sleeper because I thought it was more beneficial. Going to switch it up and see how I feel. I also just started mouth taping 6 days ago, so I will see how the new sleeping posture adds in. I'll update in maybe 2-3 days. (I actually will)

I'm glad you mentioned side sleeping. I remember commenting on a Qoves Studio vid that while lying on your back may prevent wrinkles, it could also lead to bad tongue posture and mouth breathing. The channel creater, though he is a fan of mewing, only gave a non-reply about mouth breathing being caused by a number of factors and that my point is not consequential

Mewing has been the most transformative experience in my life. I started 7 years ago back in 2017 and my underbite is nearly gone, my teeth are straighter, I finally have some semblance of cheekbones and great masseter & temporal muscle development. My jaws are broader and much more robust too. Keep up the great work.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but about 2 years ago I had achieved a nearly ideal facial growth through mewing I even had 2 modeling contracts on the table offered to be. Needless to say I messed my face completely when I started mouth taping, I used to have the highest cheek bones out of anyone walking in the streets and after mouth taping at night I completely lost definition and my jawline looked as strong but my face got broader in a less positive sense rather than defined and attractive. I would advise to not force your mouth shut but rather to mew so well during the day that at night it becomes automatic

I started looking into mewing because I noticed while meditating that if I placed my tongue in a different position I had less gas throughout the day. So I put tongue placement in the search bar and happened across videos on mewing. I still haven't seen where anyone mentions a decrease in gas but. I continue to look into proper tongue posture.

Today, was my first time trying out Mewing and absolutely yes it did make a positive difference after about one hour of palate exercises. I do use an oral prosthetic for sleep which I will continue to install before bed; however, the Mewing has added a smooth jaw contour I cannot achieve solely with the appliance. Fascinating Netflix documentary titled 'Open Wide' brought me here. Thanks to Dr Mike Mew and Dr John Mew for the benefits of a lifetime of developing alternatives to invasive procedures. I agree with most of the things that you say, but it is better for a person to sleep on the right side than the left because many people get liver problems, our liver is something that is very heavy, and when we sleep on the left side the liver will be resting on the side of the heart which is not good for our health, whereas when we sleep on the right side the heart will be resting on the liver which is good for the heart and will give a better blood flow

I was shocked when i discovered this a ciuple of years ago as I went to try and do mewing, and discoveted id already been doing it subconsciously my entire life. I naturally have my tounge against my palate and teeth closed and didnt realise anyone else did anything differently. Funny thing is a lot of people think im in my early to mid 30s, but im actually 45. I wonder if this constant jaw posture has had anything to do with it? Id be interested to take part in any studies about this 😊

i heard of the inclined bed from dave asprey and did it for a while - didn't notice much cognitive benefit. just made it somewhat annoying that my mattress would slowly slide down the frame. i'll try it again. i did mouth taping as well, it seemed to work ok - very good at avoiding getting a sore throat in the cold season. but since mewing, i don't find myself breathing through my mouth very much at all, even in my sleep. but i still have some athletic tape, which is pretty much what i bought it for, so i'll use it again and see if there's any additional improvement

Make sure you have a footboard for your bed, so the mattress doesn't slide down.
