Alot of people in the comments are asking: "Won't sleeping on my side create asymmetry?" Sleeping on your back was not the natural sleeping position of our ancestors. Lying flat on one's back on the uneven, hard surfaces of a cave or forest floor would have likely led to significant back pain. Anyone who has gone camping will be aware of this. Also, when you sleep on your back, it is more difficult to follow the tropic premise because gravity causes the lower jaw to drop, and the tongue to fall back into the throat. This is supported by the fact that more people snore when sleeping on their back than on their side, causing them to mouth breath. If you sleep on your side, you can keep your jaw from dropping by using a pillow for support, and suction-based mewing should be enough to keep breathing through the nose.

Very interesting, as so many say that sleeping on the back is the "correct" way to sleep. I trained myself to be a back sleeper because I thought it was more beneficial. Going to switch it up and see how I feel. I also just started mouth taping 6 days ago, so I will see how the new sleeping posture adds in. I'll update in maybe 2-3 days. (I actually will)

I wonder if you sleep on your back, but tilt your head to the side as if you're sleeping on your side, to prevent your lower jaw from dropping back.

I'm glad you mentioned side sleeping. I remember commenting on a Qoves Studio vid that while lying on your back may prevent wrinkles, it could also lead to bad tongue posture and mouth breathing. The channel creater, though he is a fan of mewing, only gave a non-reply about mouth breathing being caused by a number of factors and that my point is not consequential

If you are having congestion, I would encourage you to stop eating sugar and white foods. I went to an allergist and specialist for asthma. I told both,"I will see you in a year without any asthma symptoms." I returned recently for a follow-up appointment a year later. NO asthma symptoms. The respirologist asked what I had done. I informed him of what I had done-no white food or processed food. He commented jokingly, "Heh, don't tell anyone. I'll be out of a job." People gain control of your eating habits. North American food in some ways are causing a slow death for many!! God bless and keep you.

The Thumbnail 💀💀 Many people ''overdo'' Mewing and go to extremes and many people make fun of them, also view mewing as a silly thing to do. This video explains perfectly what mewing is all about and it is also the version that I (at least partly) adapted and it definetely improves your facial features. PS: Just don't abuse abuse your face with a hammer or do anything that gives you permanent damage, because ''attractiveness'' is not worth destroying your health for. The Mainkey is getting used to a certain tongue position and nasal breathing. And that actually works. 💯 No Doubt.

I agree with most of the things that you say, but it is better for a person to sleep on the right side than the left because many people get liver problems, our liver is something that is very heavy, and when we sleep on the left side the liver will be resting on the side of the heart which is not good for our health, whereas when we sleep on the right side the heart will be resting on the liver which is good for the heart and will give a better blood flow

I don’t know who needs to hear this but about 2 years ago I had achieved a nearly ideal facial growth through mewing I even had 2 modeling contracts on the table offered to be. Needless to say I messed my face completely when I started mouth taping, I used to have the highest cheek bones out of anyone walking in the streets and after mouth taping at night I completely lost definition and my jawline looked as strong but my face got broader in a less positive sense rather than defined and attractive. I would advise to not force your mouth shut but rather to mew so well during the day that at night it becomes automatic

You forgot sleeping on a hard surface. Since I sold my mattresses and bought only a 2cm thick latex my sleeping improved and I'm way more flexible straight from the morning.

Why don't you write a book about mewing. It will be a fantastic book that changes human's life
@NateB

Video format is much better for this kind of content. But a book could allow the evidence to be laid out once more medical research has caught up to Dr. Mew’s practice. Currently the research is still inconclusive.

I mew at least 20 hours every day. I do it in my sleep subconsciously (actually helps me sleep better because controlled nose-breathing) and automatically during the day. It's all about the suction man. I don't do nothing. I don't manually hold up my tongue, it just sticks.

Dr.Mew please make a video on asymmettrical mewing in which we are not able to apply pressure equally on both sides which results in asymmetry in the face. Please make a video adressing the soltuon to this.
@Orthotropics
@Orthotropics 7 ай бұрын
Be careful with the word pressure, you need to create a suction not a push on the palate. If you have suction and a big enough palate arch, you should be fine, however some people might need some expansion to have enough room to keep their tongue on the roof of their mouth. Keep at it and good luck!

Thanks Doctor Mike. Your videos, like the big bolus training, has helped a lot in making the suction hold easier for me. My tongue feels stronger and more use to being in the proper position.

Sleeping on your right side was something that the Islamic prophet Muhammad also did and recommended. Even so many years ago, science shed light on many issues. Every move he made is researched and recommended by scientists today. Islam is such a beautiful religion

I'd like to ask. I have a permanent metal brace on the back of my lower front teeth (metal wire retainer glued to the back of the teeth). Will this prevent my palate from widening?

Do you have any extractions on the lower jaw? Were your lower incisors previously very crowded? If your lower front incisors are arranged in too much of a curve as a result of a narrow pallate and extractions, I could see this as having some sort of effect. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Those permanent retainers still allow the teeth to move around overall, as contrary to essix retainers.
