I think you took a snarky comment as a hateful comment. But I do understand what you are saying. Furthermore, he's looking at the business aspect of the situation not a lawn at someone's house. If I spend my hard earned money, I want to see as well as feel something for it. It would be like going to a hotel and getting dirty sheets and muddy carpet in the room.

Fescue is the dominant grass here, but the house we moved into had St Aug. It was bare in a lot of areas, so I transplanted some sections from the healthy side to the bare areas to help fill it in. A few weeks later my neighbor said “I see the weeds are taking over” and pointed at the plugs I put in. I told him it was actually St Augustine grass, but he said it looked like weeds to him. Now while his fescue lawn is browning up in the heat, my lawn is lush and about to get a dose of iron. Does it need to be greener? Nope. Am I doing it to rub it in his face? Hell. Yes.

You bring the nerdiness to the lawn and I LOVE IT!!! I have completed three soil tests for my lawn in its various parts and now I am working on a plan to treat my soil and to have my lawn be the best! I am in MN and rain has been hard to come by. Serious drought, low dew points and little cloud cover to help. That being said your products and tips have helped me keep my lawn growing and looking the best it can be. As I start to work the soil this late summer early fall, this thing is going to dominate in no time! Love your humor, content and positive attitude! Enjoy the mow!!

Yeah I think it hurts to hear St Aug referred to as “like crabgrass” but they are similar as Allyn has pointed out more than a few times on the channel. But certainly Doug’s comment was mostly complimentary, so I am sure after a craft beer and a decent cigar, Allyn will be okay. Enjoy the mow fellas.

Your lawn is beautiful! I have hopes of my lawn being that nice in a year or two. It was very neglected before we bought this house. We over seeded in the spring and it is thickening up. Most of it anyway. Will thrown down some more seed this fall. Hubby hates to water but when we are going through a dry spell he will let me water once or twice a week. My husband is stuck on using weed and feed. This fall since we are finally out of it I’m going to suggest we just feed it for one last hurrah before winter. Middle TN has had a weird summer this year. It’s either super wet or super dry. But my lawn is looking better and for that I am thankful! Keep the videos coming. Hopefully one day we can replace our mower. What zero turn munches the best? We have a smaller lawn but my husband is insistent that we get a zero turn next go around.

I've been paying a different company to service my lawn for over 23 years. I have replaced sod I don't know how many times over the years so you know how expensive that was. The lawn companies to me just don't put anything in the yard The color was never right in my grass ever. It looks like they just spray water and keep going to the next house. I've been watching your video and few other KZbinrs about lawn care and I have to say I started doing it myself thanks to you and others. The sad part was I only did two applications in my yard my color got super dark green and it got super thick really fast. Before I will have yellow all in different areas of my yard and the lawn companies will always tell me it was wash out well I don't have it now.

St Aug is the best grass, period. Mine is so lush, and subtle, it's like walking on a cushion. When done correctly the broad blades will snuff out the wild Bermuda. Lots of nitrogen, or course, but the key is to avoid shallow root syndrome. Let the lawn grow tall, which promotes deep roots. When the summer peaks, the rain subsides, those deep roots will access the down-deep water. Then when the drought happens, with established deep roots, one begins to lower the deck and that permits the roots to less aggressively nourish of the top side, thus maintaining a deep green. Use phosphorus and iron supplements to the normal nitrogen, but be careful with pot-ash. As some of you know pot-ash mixed with water creates lye, and that changes the PH-balance in the soil, and st Aug needs a specific PH level. Look at the paper by Texas A&M professors on st Aug, it's a treasure of technical details. Best of Luck!

St Aug is my favorite grass. It's what we had growing up. I loved to walk barefoot through it. We have JaMur Zoysia right now and while it's doing well and I do appreciate it, I'll always love St Aug the best.

Flew out to Florida last week, is it weird that I wanted to try and find your house so I could see that beautiful grass in person? As always, thanks for sticking up for us St Aug ppl.

Here in CNY we have had a wet summer so far. My lawn is the best its been in years. Some weeks i could mow 3 times a week. The best thing this year is free water😁😁

I just got home from Disney. The wife saw how fast the resorts grass grew and stated " I'd kill this grass off, you'd never come in the house if you had this type of grass" I told her " we couldnt reel mow it for certain, I'd try tho" lol. But it's crunch and bouncy for sure. Its a pretty green though. LUSH is the word

Hello Allyn and the LCN Community - I have a few questions for a St. Augustine lawn in the Houston, TX area please… 1. In a previous video you mentioned a sprayer that you’re going to introduce. Any updates on that? Holding off on buying one until then. 2. Any way to change the YM app from Bio Stim pack applications to Spoon Juice applications? 3. Soil test shows low N, K & S and recommends Stress Blend, Greene Start & MicroGreene. App says to throw down Flagship. Should I use ALL of them???

I appreciate you for this LCN. These post are getting ridiculous. Most people are amateurs that are looking for the advise that I know a lot of members can give but far too many people are jacka**es and just stir the pot of negativity.

Love the video, and I'm sorry if you've address this already...Wild Bermuda...I am new to Florida grasses and a I have Bahai with A LOT of wild Bermuda I inherited. Options seem to be limited, so I am asking...please , please , please, give me an option besides re-sodding. Also a novice 54 year old yard keeper...

This negative stuff seems to crop up in every online community over time. No clue why it is, but it seems to be a regular thing. I have seen it in everything. Cars, computers, firearms, and now lawn care. It is a sad reality of online communities.

All of the lawns in the drought photos look way better than my lawn by far. My yard of mostly dandelions, moss, dirt, and some sand in Northwest Georgia.

I have learned to wait a few hrs after I mow THEN bag the grass after it dries out, you bag 75% less with the water gone.

Lol. I thought the same thing last week when I took the family to Siesta Key. I’m also in Ohio and I have never felt grass like saint Augustine before. It is some really thick stuff. And by the way Allen, bean point really is beautiful!
