mine loves to play keep away, she made a game of it,.. i need to purchase a long line because putting her in a gated basketball field sized area has not helped at all 👍🏼

Same. She finds a stick or something, and thats it. Gets so frustrating

check out Michael Ellis, maybe search for him on youtube. there are some very long videos of his actual training course and you need that level of understanding of how dogs think and how best to work with them off that. its worth the look

My dog steals things and plays keep away. He will chew on them to demand my attention. He chooses dangerous or expensive things. He is very good at it. The glee in his eye is so maddening.

Great video, thank you. I had a dog sitter once that taught my dog to play keep-away with the ball. I really want to teach drop. She loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back to me for hours. But she puts it on the ground a couple feet in front of me every time 😒. Do you have any suggestions or videos about that?

Alicia Markoe sit in a chair and don’t throw the ball again until they bring it all the way back.

Do you have any suggestions for this when it’s happening inside? Our puppy likes to confiscate our personal items inside, then play keep away. I’m not sure the long leash will work indoors. We’ve tried a regular leash sns he chewed it off.

Don't let him chew leashes ever, you can use a regular leash or a humane remote collar to correct it then tell them to lay down

My miniature poodle does this and she’s so stubborn.

Love the training you do. Our 3 1/2 month puppy wonders our yard - which is fine, but he gets items and starts eating. When we try to take away from him, he does the keep away game. It has gotten nuts…. How do I stop him from doing keep away game when we want to see what he has in mouth

Wish this guy had responded to your question as I have the same problem. I can't keep a long leash on him all the time.

My toy poodle mix loves to be close but I have not been successful in getting her to give me her toys lol .. she loves to challenge me ... By taking the toy and wants me to try n get the toy ... She loves it. I don't mind this it makes her happy but I would love for her to play fetch with out the challenge because it keeps me from being able to throw it again I don't know it's like she wants to play fetch but at the same time she doesn't want to bring the toy back or the ball lol❤

My dog doesn’t come back in 5 minutes. He literally won’t come back. I’ve practiced the collar touch. He is on a line, but I have a very small yard do it makes it difficult. My dog is a year old, and he can jump over my 6 ft fence in the front yard, and the 6 foot fence in the backyard. Once he hops the fence, he will not come back. He just plays the game. I live by a busy street and I think he will get hit by a car. He’s almost been hit multiple times. I’ve taken him to a 9 week obedience school, but nothing has worked. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Erik

I would work on trying to make your fence more escape proof. You could try installing coyote rollers or running an electric invisible fence along your fence line.

@@Mydogtrainingspot it’s 6 ft high. My residential area doesn’t allow any higher of a fence.
@Mydogtrainingspot2 жыл бұрын
@@ernnnnmm you can bury the invisible fence wire along the base of your existing fence. This will keep your dog from going within a few feet of your fence. An invisible fence company can install it for you
