Technical foul is a penalty for UNSPORTMANLIKE conduct or violations by team members on the floor or seated on THE BENCH. Clark gets a technical foul for striking the safety foam padding under the hoop. The same ref had to separates Noelle Quinn and Skylar Diggins-Smith among others from the bench from Christie Sides. The ladies of the Storm were verbally abusing Christie Sides. Where is the technical foul!

Not only were they being verbally abusive and getting in Coach Sides' face, they were OVER THE HALF-COURT LINE (ON THE FEVER'S SIDE) WHILE THE BALL WAS IN PLAY - THE GAME WAS GOING ON!!! CC gets T'd up for expressing frustration, NOT AT THE REF, OR AT A PLAYER, BUT BECAUSE SHE MISSED AN OPEN SHOT, (during a dead ball situation), BUT THE STORM COACH, ASSISTANT COACH, AND AT LEAST TWO STORM PLAYERS WERE INVOLVED IN THIS CONFRONTATION WHILE THE BALL WAS IN PLAY AND NO TECHNICALS CALLED!!!!!

The league was tickled pink when the Fever started the season 2-10 and were a laughingstock and schedule-impacted punching bag. The top teams took turns kicking the crap out of these youngsters; it was painful being a Fever fan and watching your exhausted team embarrassed multiple times per week. Now a rested Fever with a more reasonable schedule is kicking the crap outta the "Olympians" (snicker), and you'd have thought somebody was passing gas during a silent prayer vigil. They CANNOT handle "the truth," and the truth is these youngsters are better, faster, stronger and are hungry for recognition. The "cry-baby" aspect of the Storm's coach is just embarrassing, and her player getting in Sides' face should've been cause for at least a one-game suspension.

Because this was between the coaches, not directed at the officials. Refs don't like it when players and coaches react demonstratively to their calls, which is exactly what Caitlin did. There are always even certain refs that make a point of coming for a particular star player. Ask all of the greats which ref did they have an ongoing beef with. Nothing to hype up over here. You hit the pad after a call and it's going to be a tech every time. That's basketball. You slam or throw the ball, same thing. Tech

I grew up in South Central LA. Down from the Tower Mkt at Florence and Western. (it's gone now). Went to 74th street elementary school then Horace Mann Junior high. I say all of that to prove I did grow up there. That being said. If you were a poor sport you wouldn't be on a team. If you couldn't take the L like a true competitor no one wanted to be around you. I was taught by my coaches and parents the value in being a young professional and being accountable. Of course in my day we helped each other up after a good hit. Quinn's excuse for her thug behavior is just that, an excuse for heinous behavior. It's the victim mentality instilled in so many youth of the inner cities, which quinn has instilled in her players. Look at horston and skyler over their jawing at Sides. Any player with class would have stayed out of it but quinn has them feeling the victim thing. And they must stand up for their peeps. Quinn, skyler and horston need to be suspended for at least one game, fined and forced to apologize to Coach Sides, the Fever, and the fans.
@rach_storm-007
@rach_storm-007 2 ай бұрын
I have a different take on this. I've been a huge fan (and continue to be one) of the Storm since 2020. Quinn was appointed Head Coach in 2021. In all the time she's been coaching, I've never once seen her react in any other way than calm and respectful. And the Storm have had their butts kicked with huge blowouts before, and never has their been a negative reaction. Heck, we didn't even make the playoffs last season and there was no carry-on like this. At all. And there have been other games were the whole 'taking starters out and playing the bench' didn't happen and again, no issue. What I find 'interesting' is that this is the first season that the problematic Skylar Diggins-Smith has been with Seattle. And towards the end of the game, it was SDS who power-walked straight into CC (on purpose, of course), then sooked/cried to Quinn about CC amping up the crowd right in front of the Storm bench (this is speculation of course, but makes sense when it comes to this particular player). And it was SDS who had a temper tantrum (as per usual) and jumped into the conversation between the 2 coaches and caused trouble. No one knows what was said between the two coaches. Everyone is going by what the commentators said about there being an issue with Sides not emptying the bench, and their body language. I could be wrong but it makes more sense to me that the issue was SDS and not Quinn, but Quinn feeling the need to take SDS's back as her coach (because that's what you do) has made this into more than what it probably was. Quinn has to be the most unproblematic coach in the WNBA (except for maybe poor rotations and questionable plays lol) so this behaviour is confusing to say the least...except that it involved SDS. Then again, I only follow the Storm because of Ezi Magbegor (my favourite player in the league) so what would I know?? 😂 Ezi is so unbothered by all the drama and never feels the need to get involved. She just wants to play ball lol. Needless to say, the Fever played really well and I was happy for them to get the win. They deserved it. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😉

@@No_nonsense302But in the video I saw from the stands behind the Storm’s bench, you can see that Noelle Quinn saw Diggins-Smith’s push of Clark, which basically pushed her even closer to the Storm’s bench, and Clark just continued walking to the Fever bench. The second Clark is passed them, Quinn can be seen complaining to the ref and pointing at Clark, which is ridiculous as she saw what went down. I am wondering what Diggins-Smith was saying at one point with her coach, the ref and Sides as she made this motion like getting pushed in the back. Was she saying she pushed Clark in the back? Wish I could read lips!

I guess what makes me angry is, CC got a technical for banging the base of the hoop and was told what she did disrespects the WNBA, but Coach Quinn and several of her players are allowed to treat Christy Sides the way they did? Why didn't they get technicals, too? I also blame the officials , because they seem to be encouraging this behavior. During the post game, when Quinn was asked about what happened, she said she got into a heated discussion with Sides about "good sportsmanship." This had nothing to do with the subs. This was about CC walking across Seattle bench and Diggins pushes CC in the back. CC ignored her and walked by the coach. Then the coach and Diggins were pleading with the officials to toss CC. The officials did not toss CC so Seattle coach confronted Sides along with Diggins. A different angle shows CC on the Indiana bench yelling at that coach and Diggins. Samuelson was holding CC back. Samuelson was laughing. Had nothing to do with subs.

You are correct. It all started when Hull hit her last 3 and Clark yelled right over or at their bench.The commentators said it was the substitutions. The blacks are mad Caitlin isn't bending the knee. Clark needs to go to China in the off season and have her agent personally tell the league she isn't coming back until they fix the officiating issues and have them watch the obvious biased officials. I try to watch it objectively, and every game it is the same thing. Clark and Hull get bad call after bad call. They are trying to Hurt Clark and it' s obvious

To answer your own question, their coach was trying to prove something, and I’ve seen her being interviewed in her first year as coach - where she’s telling all the reporters she’s “gangsta” and from LA, doing gansta stuff, so don’t play the fool by her, or she will “play that role”. It’s a fun watch. Very telling of her demeanor. She should be fined, and made to apologize publicly.
