I just finished the audio book - it’s phenomenal but Scott also reads it!

I saw Anthrax at Harpos in Detroit in 87 literally like 4000 dudes dove off the stage despite only 1400 people were there of course I was one of them ( literally a Madhouse)

31:32 I read the book, and Scott's reasons for firing Joey were vague and dismissive. Something about not being hard enough or gravelly enough. When Joey was told his drinking was effecting his performance he quit, so it's not that. And Scott admits he never really hung out with Joey in those early years. So they replace Joey, and the first Bush record sells great because fans want to hear the new singer. Many fans, myself included, lost interest after that because, while Bush is awesome, it just didn't sound like the Anthrax we all loved. So whatever, bands replace members, it happens. But throughout his book Scott laments the poor Anthrax sales on the Bush records, and wonders where all the Anthrax fans went. This is a common theme with these rock icons and their books. They never seem to accept responsibility for the fans' reaction to their decisions. GNR broke up because no one would stand up to Axl. Metallica never reconciled their grief over Cliff and alienated their new bassist. Now they're a shadow of a once great metal band. Now Anthrax has Joey back and whaddaya know, the fans are returning. I just wish someone in their bubble would say, hey a lot of your fans were around for your history and don't want to hear you whine about why they didn't buy your records.

hisvorpalsword Cool, now that Joey's back, get Danny & you'll have the ultimate reunion tour. My mission is to catch an Anthrax concert, once again; I want to hang with Scott Ian, but this fart stench, that damn near took over this bookshow, needs to go.

Metallica are still relivent gnr ain't last album was 91 axl 2008 but that was the shitz

The reason Anthrax fans lost fans in the 90s isn't because Joey left,or the Bush albums were bad(they weren't the bands' best,but they had some good tracks/didn't suck); back in the 90s, music tastes were changing,and alot of metal bands of all styles saw their fortunes fade. Anthrax unfortunately got lost in the shuffle. Yeah,the fans have come back to a large degree with Joey's return,but alot of that has to do with nostalgia,now that their original fan base are middle aged and have more disposable income. I love all eras of the band, but Bush is the better vocalist,IMHO. (Catharsis from Vol 8 is an Anthrax classic,Bush slays it! And We've Come For You All is up there with their best albums. Peace.)

In recent years Scott has accepted responsibility for Joey's firing and has admitted he was being a prick. At the time, he was going through some personal problems with a failed marriage and another relationship, he admits that he was a miserable person during that period and unfairly took it out on Joey.

I wasn’t just the Seattle bands that affected what was going on in the thrash world, It was Metallica Black/Load/Reload and Helmet that changed the sound of thrash metal bands, if you listen to Stomp 442 it sounds like Helmet, Megadeth followed Metallica's radio friendly sound and also Nu Metal shaped the sound with de-tuned guitars. These things turned off fans for years in the late 90's. I lave grown to love the records with Bush, I am not saying that they are better than Anthrax’s originals but I prefer Bush as a singer and they are way better live with Bush.

Is it just me, or does the interviewer kinda look like a young version of Paul Stanley from KISS?
@jon-ericphoenixx78237 жыл бұрын
Noctumus Sorry dude, but I'm going to have disagree with you on that. Mr. Stanley, is a personal friend of mine, but to eleviate the comparison, I would have to say that a very young Tim Curry , looked exactly like him. Check out the 80's video "I Do The Rock"; he's the exact spitting image of the KISS Icon.
