Mine turned out to be too large tonsils, any cold made them swollen. Got them removed and feel a lot better now!

One thing I don't understand about it: how can she reinfect him when he has already had the infection? Presuming her asymptomatic disease does not mutate within her, she would only throw things at him he already developed an immunity against.

Superbugs are very hard to tackle. Resistant to a lot of means of treatment and usually more active in the body. Even after being caught, his immunity would wane after enough time passed. It's why we have booster shots - keep up our immunity over the period of years with otherwise highly infectious strains like the flu. Even if it doesn't prevent the disease, it can reduce the symptoms since our bosies can fight it before major damage occurs. Either way, it took a very specific treatment in order to help combat his infection. His body alone isn't strong enough to fight it off.
