I agree and I loved her escape/run from Vecna. It was a great visual of what it's like to have depression/mental illness and having to fight your own brain/symptoms just to function. at the start of the season she was totally giving into her grief, isolating herself, then when the reality of of what her self isolation what doing to her (and her friends) she finally began to fight. And the song Running Up that Hill underlines the point great.

Nice list! My #1 this season is Max. In response to 12:28 - I thought that she was throwing up because of an eating disorder that was triggered by/related to her mother's abuse (as depicted in her waking nightmares) as opposed to pregnancy.

The Hopper storyline was dumb. They should’ve killed Hopper at the end of ST 3, leading to a emotional journey for Joyce and Murray (still dealing with the Russian story). They go to Russia to save a man who was sent there to die and doesn’t want to he saved, only so he can go back to Hawkins at the end of ST 4 or ST 5 and give his life to save everyone else bc he thinks he’s cursed

Honestly I really enjoyed the Robin/Nancy dynamic. It felt nice to have two of the females interacting on this show and it not be all about one of the guys. The new group with Max, Dustin, and the others had a fun Scooby Doo-mystery vibe going on. Steve and Eddie were also a really interesting pair up.

Yeah robin, nancy, steve, eddie are a great grp...and I hope if they all make it out of this season alive that they should have their own storyline in s5!! I do hope steve survives becoz to me he comes off as the leader of this grp, he is always the one taking the charge (except the mystery solving parts where nancy is the leader), he is great at fighting with the monsters...and also is among my top 5 fav characters...so I really want him to survive this

I don't like the Robin and Nancy pairing. I only liked Nancy in Season 1 and 2. Season 3, I didn't care about her story arc. Season 4 just continues to make her a character I don't care about anymore. I liked Robin in Season 3, but when it comes to Season 4, wow. Can she shut it for like 10 seconds? Yap, yap, yap. Plus they have to constantly remind us that she is into girls. I get it. She likes girls. Don't need a reminder EVERY scene she is in and every 5-10 seconds of the scene. Didn't take long to ruin Robin for me.

As someone who's first sexual/romantic awakening was for his straight (taken) best friend, Will's arc this season is very personally discomforting to watch. I know it's almost definitely unrequited, but I just want Will to have something go his way for ONCE. Also, I really don't feel like Mike and El have a future, their relationship feels so hollow this season. And realistically first time/childhood relationships rarely if ever work out. Honestly, the writers may not have intended it, but there's so many odd things about Mike this season that maybe, just maybe mean that Mike is struggling with feelings for Will. Bi people exist and I'm so tired of popular entertainment not recognizing it. Mike Wheeler gives off strong Bi vibes to me, his relationship with Will has always felt deeper than his with Dustin or Lucas. Mike's behavior around Will this season is just so estranged for seemingly no reason. I don't want to have hope for requited Byler, but goddammit the writers and actors have not been doing me any favors.

I think Max kind of stole 11's thunder. If 11 is like a super powered hero, Max is the final girl. Vecna was also really badass and terrifying. He is what the Night King should have been like. His descent into the upside down reminded me of satan's fall from heaven. Perfect casting because the actor has angelic features but there is something off about him in a demented way. This season got me back into loving Stranger Things, Because I hated the last couple seasons.

I was thinking about season 1 and how long it takes for people breathing in the air from the Upside Down before they start getting sick from it. So at first I appreciated Steve's line about swallowing some of that stuff after he coughed. But then I remembered rule #1 about coughing in a show; it always means a terminal illness. My favorite characters remain Steve, Hopper, Dustin and Robin. I love all 4 and the interactions Steve Dustin and Robin share. I would be pissed if they decide to kill off Steve this season because of his bites. Steve’s character arc has been great and I would hate to see it spoiled. Hopper’s story was fun this season. I love when he dose his monologues but especially when he talks about fighting the demagorgon and how they are all gonna die. Vecna is my favorite introduction this season. Great villain and I’m excited to see him and 11 fight again in the second part. (Eddie was also a great introduction as well.) My song would be Float On by Modest Mouse or Bittersweet Symphony.

It feels more like a plot thing than a natural progression thing the way this season handled Steve/Nancy/Jonathan. To make the audience root for Steve and Nancy to rekindle their relationship they had to make the audience not root for Jonathan and Nancy. But they short handed their story and leaned too much the other way with Steve and Nancy. Still loved this season. Prob my favorite Season since the 1st. And always gonna be Team Steve just cause he's such a great standout. character. Though more a Fan of Steve/Robin and Steve/Justin and those friendships over his romantic entanglements.

I don't think Johnathan has lost interest in Nancy, when he reveals he's decided to go to a different school from Nancy , that he feels he needs to stay close by for Will and Joyce, and that he sees Nancy is going to do great things and doesn't want to drag her down. I think he's trying to do what he thinks will make the most people happy instead of going after what he wants in life.

But, not to mention they put him in a totally terrible situation: Falling in love with his straight friend. It actually was very relatable to me, also as a member of the community. I unfortunately fell for most of my male best friends. They were great relationships, but there was always that piece of my always being more caring or committed because there was something additional they would never have. Its not a tragic story by any means, you can have perfectly healthy platonic relationships and Im very happy for Will's portrayal of it. He will find a SO, and the romantic feelings will fade for Mike.

Maybe Will just comes out to Mike and tell him he has feelings for him but understands Mike loves Eleven etc. I don't know, it's complicated and I feel like if they are indeed going in that direction, they are kinda writing themselves into a corner.

I really don’t think WB had an idea of the absolute goldmine that they had with Jamie Campbell Bower. He was the absolute star of this season. He was given a role that had a ton of meat on it, and he delivered it in spades. Jamie should’ve been given the chance the flesh out Gellert Grindelwald, the character he played wayyyyy back in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Nancy is in college actually (I believe a community college but still). She mentioned in her conversation with Fred that she got accepted for early admission but Jonathan didn't.

Early admission means you apply to university in a different pool of applicants than other applicants. It means you apply early and agree to commit to that school, which increases chances of being admitted as the college knows the applicant will actually matriculate. Applying as a regular applicant-like Jonathan-means you can apply to as many schools as you want and don’t have to commit to any of them, which is an entirely different pool of applicants. Point being: Nancy is still in high school but applied early decision to college.

Grace, I think Kevin fiegi should be on the phone with the brothers to direct and write the next avengers level movie because of how well they handle a big cast and have all the different storylines be so interesting and converge in the most satisfying way :D. Murray is my favorite. Like you said I love that he’s very knowledgeable and also a good friend to Joyce and hopper. He could have easily drawn the line and flying to Russia for a prison escape and just helped her call Enzo. So glad he had a lot to do here.

I’ve always been impressed with how they manage to introduce new characters and we instantly feel attachment to them - however, I’m really not enjoying Argyle at all… every time he’s on screen I cringe and not in a good way. It’s interesting to hear that you think he’s a scene stealer, wonder if there’s a difference in American/British humour that I’m just not getting…

This is the first season I liked Nancy's character even though I hate the love triangle thing they are trying to set up between her and steve. Loved Eddie he was my favorite new character this season. Overall this season had a lot of strong storylines but the hopper one was my favorite.

This entire show is so well acted and so well written. It's super rare to have a cast this large and everyone is so likeable. Of course though with a large cast like this you get some more limited screen time for some of them. I also think Eddie will die. He talks about his lack of courage and I think he sacrifices himself to possibly help Nancy.

Really, really bummed about Jonathan. I loved Jonathan in season 1 and wanted him to go on to get more roles from the part and obviously to see him get more to do in the other seasons. Though, I knew there was a fairly high likelihood that wouldn’t be the case just because after season 1 all the hype for the older teen characters was around Steve. Which I get! I loved Steve by the end of season 1 as well and Joe Keery totally deserves the love. Just wish Charlie Heaton had gotten some too. He’s a great actor so I wish they’d give him more. All the Byers get pretty sidelined/overshadowed in their own storylines this season. It’s frustrating.

Will Byers is not friends with Eleven. The rest of them are. But while they were bonding with her, he was stuck in another universe. And then when he came back he had to stay in isolation because he was possessed by the Mind Flayer. So that cut into any opportunity to get to know Eleven. Plus there's also the slight resentment that she basically usurped his position while he was gone and his friends got ushered into puberty while he was fighting for his life. It only makes sense that now that it's all behind him Will wants time for himself rather than having to babysit some girl he never connected with.

I have a feeling Steve will be the star of the spinoff show, along with Eddie as his sidekick. Something like Vecna escapes the final showdown and takes his schtick out of Hawkins so our heroes have to track him across the USA closing the gates he leaves behind.

The California storyline was really pointless once eleven was out of the picture, similarly the Russia story outside the interest of what hopper was upto but at least those characters are more interesting
