In some countries personal info is mandatory in applications and the first thing they look at is age. Some Ads even mention age requirements unfortunately.

Lots of good ideas on this video. I'm 61 years old and I have been working in a thrift store for a few weeks. I was given 3 6 hour days to begin with and was dropped to 2 days . This is my only income. Hope everything is looking up for you . ❤

I guess, at an interview, showing that you actively welcome new challenges rather than becoming stuck in a rut of "what you're good at/used to", or "the go-to expert at x,y & z". (Which would make holiday requests more difficult)

That used to work well for me. I think at my age now (64) it doesn't matter what I say or do, they are paralyzed with ageism.

You can try to hide yr age on a job application but when u turn up for the interview yr cover is blown. Just spinning yr wheels really. It's all so frustrating when our group has so much to offer 😢

At the worst, at least you get some more experience in being interviewed. Maybe some recruiters will drop their misconceptions when they see you face to face, as they can't blow you off then.

After being made redundant from my IT job at 57 I applied for hundreds of jobs to no avail, not one interview. I soon realized this was ageism at play so I set about hiding my age on LinkedIn and in my resume. Lo and behold the interviews started coming, but they were very short interviews once they saw me i person. Ageism is rife, particularly in IT, it makes little difference what skillset you have, if you're over 50 you aren't getting a job in IT.

So true. The strategies only work up to the interview in the hopes the interviewer will forego your age once they see you in person.

resumes are outdated , nothing but keyword stuffing , network is key , its not about what skills we got , who we know.

...or do what I did and save hard, invest well and take advantage of TAX breaks ans retire at 58 !
