You can also use two different pie fillings in a 13x9-in cake pan like strawberry on one half and blueberry on the other half. That way whomever doesn't want straw berry can have blueberry and whomever doesn't like blueberry can have strawberry!😋 Or a little of both 😍

Hi!, For me, it's cherry topping! I added a bit of crushed graham cracker and butter mixture in the bottom of the pan, and a bit more on top of the cake crumble, and WOW! A perfect compromise when you don't have time to make a cheesecake cheesecake! Thank you!

I've been making dump cakes for years. Since making it the first time, with the standard instruction of putting pats of butter over the dry cake mix, I've been melting two sticks of butter and stirring in my mix. Then I spread it over the top and it comes out like cake on top, pie on the bottom. You're the first person I've seen who has mixed your butter in. I subbed! Blessings all!!!!

I never thought about adding the cream cheese, great idea! I make mine dump cakes in a cast iron skillet covered in foil, can be done when camping over your low fire while eating, about then done eating, cake is done, been doing this over 30 years with Girl Scouts, mixed all types of cakes and fillings, apple sauce and spice cakes are a favorite of ours!! That’s a great idea! I like to make dump cakes in my Dutch oven. I get my fire going out back, drink some beverages, and eventually have enough hot coals to bake. I’ve used several different pie fillings, peach, blueberry, apple….. adding the whipped cream cheese is a great idea! I can’t wait to try it 😎

Adding in melted butter to the cake mix for the crumble layer is so much better than putting the dry mix on top of the pie filling, with pats of butter on top of that. Your version works, while the way I was taught never did, so I was giving up.

Hi Catherine, I just saw this recipe yesterday. I already had 3 cans of blueberry pie filling on hand. I had to run to the store to get the whipped cream cheese and I used a french vanilla cake mix, which I had this on had as well. I must say, of all the dump cakes I've made (which has been many), this was the most delicious one of all. However, my next one will be your strawberry dump cake because strawberries is my very favorite fruit. I'll probably make one for Thanksgiving this month. I'll let you know which I liked the best. I understand what you mean when you added the butter to the white cake mix less powdery but it kind of looked burned where you couldn't tell on the chocolate. I think Philadelphia makes a cheesecake filling that you can buy in a container. That might work even better. Or kind do your own cheesecake. I don't think straight cream cheeses would work as well. My favorite topping with cheesecake is fresh fruit. I've got a blueberry pudding cake recipe that I've had forever. The idea is similar come only it's cake instead of a crumble. Might be interesting to incorporate some sort of cheesecake filling with that.

I love the idea of mixing the butter in the cake mix. I've tried the dump cake recipe's where you poor the melted butter or you cut it in tiny slices and add on top but it never can out crispy enough to me. Some spots were soggy. But your's look crispy all over. I bet cherries with chocolate cake mix would be delicious. Like a chocolate covered cherry candy. My favorite is cherry.

Just popped in the oven! This is my third time making this recipe. I had a carton of whipped cream cheese about to reach the best by date so I thought it a good excuse to whip up a pan! Each time I’ve used blueberry filling because it’s my favorite. And instead of two cans, I spread one can on the bottom of the pan, then layer with the whipped cream cheese, and then sprinkle 11-15 oz fresh blueberries over that, and then the crumble. I don’t care that it is winter, you can’t beat fresh berries! I also add some freshly ground nutmeg and a splash of vanilla to the crumble. And always yes to the ice cream! 😋

She added 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon to the pie filling. It was fabulous. I know yours would be fabulous without these 2 ingredients. The thing I really love about this is that the butter is incorporated into the cake mix already, instead of laying pads of butter on top before you bake it. When I made them in the past, they generally come out with concentrated pockets of butter.

Yes, and spoonfuls of dry cake mix. Blech!! I melt my 2 sticks of butter and mix my cake mix in before spreading it on top. Yum!!

My favorite dump cake is a package of frozen peaches and a package of Frozen blackberries. Will definitely melt the butter and mixed with the cake mix next time. Sounds like a great idea. Love the addition of cream cheese, too.

I like to grease my pan with coconut oil :) leaves a slight nutty flavor but not over powering :) YUM

You're the first person I've seen to actually melt the butter and do a crumble!..most say to just dump the cake mix and add butter to the top(I always get a mushy mess 😖) I'm going to give this a try!..I wonder if I could do a crumble/crust on the bottom too🤔...I love crumble/crust 😊

😋My fave topping is seedless BLACKBERRY jam or pie filling, slightly blended w whole-milk RICOTTA CHEESE!! I put this on top of my cheesecake when it's done. Swirls of gorgeous tints & shades of purple w white, variations of degrees of flavor from bite to bite, complementing the taste of cheesecake instead of overpowering it (the problem w topping cheesecakes...to me). Sometimes I use whipped blueberry or strawberry cream cheese🍰. To cake crumbles (w real butter) I like to add dark brown sugar w vanilla or a bit of Amaretto 😋, sometimes flaked coconut. When done, drizzle caramel, homemade w brown sugar, real butter, & a touch of Southern Comfort or Capt. Morgan's Spiced Rum ❣️😋❣️😋❣️

I recently came across a new 'butter pat' tip. Use a potato peeler to shave thin slices off the end of the cold butter. More coverage with the same amount of butter. Works like a charm! I love dump cakes and cheesecake, so I can't wait to try this recipe. (I make my dump cakes with home made cake mix, which allows me to switch out most of the sugar for stevia.)

I made this exactly as you said and it turned out amazing! My house smells so good lol! Huuuge hit with all the family. I can't believe it is so good, with only 4 ingredients! Even put vanilla ice cream on top when serving. Loving all your recipes!!

To make a banana split version, you can add bananas, mini choc chips, or just drizzle hot choc sauce over it, before the ice cream goes on...really good video....you explained the sizes of the cans, box, and containers of ingredients....well done!!

Just ran across this recipe, love the idea of mixing melted butter with the cake mix, solves the butter Pat method and the dry spots. First thing that came to mind was the new Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cake filling that is a fairly new product. Using that instead of the whipped cream cheese. Oh, my goodness ! That would be delicious. Will be making this weekend for sure. Thank you for the idea !

I made this today just ate it.it was amazing .I have to say I have made a few of your dishes and all was great. But I have to stop I was already gained weight because of covid. But making the 3 dishes I gained more weight so sad to say have to stop for awhile. But will keep watching you. It is all wonderful dishes. Yummmmm.
