@@63artemisia63 hi Lynn, I agree but when I was in last in Bali, an injured pup needed help. I took him to the vet and they had to amputate so we did. I asked where the closest shelter and they said there were none. Driving around Bali and asking businesses and local homes, they felt the animals were fine out on the street. I think we all have a homeless pet problem but here in the US, and in the UK, there are more resources and a cultural difference. It was nice to see this pup make it =)

@@63artemisia63 well, its cultural. Even my parents living in the US for most of their lives do not understand why I spent 60k for my dog after being attacked by another dog. In Bali, they are poor so it makes it worse. My parents (Chinese) see animals differently. I saw this mentality a lot in Bali, Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, Slavaina, even Cape town and others so when I saw someone helping the animals in Bali, I was over joyed. Lynn, I'm guessing you are in the US too?

Last night, my daschund Lucy had a disk injury. Took my baby to the vet this morning and they are treating her with medicine. Will onlt hear monday if it is working. Vet said she has a 50/ 50 chance of not being paralyzed. She is a huge part of our family. She is 8 years old now. Please pray for her.

Love seeing the joy come out in these little guys. Big guys too. My son rescued and dog. He knew the people didn't want her. He knew they didn't feed her. He asked several times if they'd give up the dog. Finally he took her about a year later. She's no longer skinny and scared. She still runs around like a happy puppy at 12 years old.

But in others, especially in impoverished countries and communities, where people can barely afford to take care of their own needs, a dog is another mouth to feed, another family member who needs costly health care. @@63artemisia63 the dog had a collar on. It was abandoned. I’ve been in situations where I was homeless with no money, and my dog ate instead of me. But usually we shared. All dogs have to give us is their loyalty, and love, and they give it fully. We owe them nothing less. You don’t abandon your dog. Ever.

He may have just gotten lost. I had a dog who was an escape artist. One time a lady "rescued him" from my front yard and thought he was a stray lol. He just hopped in her car. She had him for like 7 days until someone saw my flier and knew her. She was just going to keep him. Now I always chip my dogs in addition to the collar tag.

Lots of us assume that feeding and caring for a dog or cat is cheap. But when you barely have enough to buy food, shelter and health care for your family, an extra mouth to feed can be overwhelming. There are 10 million people over 65 in the US and the same in the UK who struggle to feed themselves. Millions of children go to bed hungry every night, but because we don’t see them, we assume they’re “cruel” for choosing to feed a child instead of a dog.

I have over a dozen rescues in last few years let alone adopting out kittens in the last decade. As a kid I had three Mama kitties and 24 kittens. We found homes for all of them. People are ignorant to what we do to wildlife. They get mad deer raccoons other wildlife were in their yards. Well the last thousand years that was their home. I was never a dog guy. I thought dog people were weird. My wife, then my fiancé, tricked me into taking a drive to a farm that rescued abused/abandoned dogs. Despite my protesting we went home with a black lab puppy that came from terrible circumstances. I've been married for 9 years now. I couldn't imagine a day without my dog. She is so much more than a pet. She's a friend, and marriage counselor, an endless source of joy, a money pit. I wouldn't give her up for anything. Now I can't watch a clip like this without turning into an absolute crying baby. I just hate the thought that anyone could be cruel to a dog, and I'm so grateful that people and groups like this exist to save these little lives. My next dog and all the dogs after will definitely be a rescue.
