Great video guys. I'm on the fence with this ATN X SITE 4K 3 X14 day/night scope with that ABL 1000. I am putting together an all-purpose hunting & precision LR .45 muzzleloader - The CVA Paramount. How does the scope & rangefinder do on moving targets? Fast-moving targets, how fast does the range finder adjust to the target? With my very limited budget, this purchase is a really huge deal for me to be able to do for myself. Hopefully by my 57 B day in 5 days. I need one superior shooting, manageable recoil, that I can compete LR comp with AND use to hunt everything from armadillos to moose with, out to 400 + yards with enough downrange KE to get the job done ethically with accurate shot placement. If my gut tells me right This is THAT GUN for all those uses at a steep price for a broke up ole guy on SSI, but, WELL WORTH the financial difficulty to obtain. Hell, ALL WITH THE EXACT SAME ROUND. ONLY 1 SPECIFIC ROUND TO BUY. AWESOME ! What are your thoughts with all this? Thank you, Kind regards & TY for the way you represented yourselves. You should be very proud.

Thanks for the reply! So I’ve taken this out for a few hunts, I just haven’t uploaded the vids yet. For tracking targets at night, I highly recommend using an aftermarket IR Light (such as the Sniper Hog Light 66LRX, which is what I use.) This will allow you to see further than the stock IR will. For moving targets, I had no problem tracking animals like coyotes, hogs, and raccoons. The ABL also ranges with a five second live-range, which continuously records them and updates your scope as the animal moves. I have used it to track hogs moving and have followed up with a shot that is dead-on for impact. As for what your proposing, I have never used a black-powder rifle so I unfortunately can not provide you any info about that. Hopefully you’re able to figure out if it’s good for you or not!

@StrayBullet9723 жыл бұрын
Hmm…I’d check your firmware to make sure it’s current, and ensure that your ABL is properly zeroed to the weapon. Then, make sure all the ballistic data for the bullet is correct and is the active profile in the scope. After all of that is done, make sure the ballistic calculator is on for the scope too. That should get you where you want to be. Also, always turn the ballistic calculator off before you turn the scope off!

Did you tested it at night? What are capabilites of 4k, did you need to buy extra iluminator?
@StrayBullet9725 жыл бұрын
WILD Srbija I do have a video of me hunting with both the ABL and 4K at night, I just haven’t uploaded it yet. The combo works perfectly and I took a pig at 229 yards with it. I did buy a different Illuminator though; I went with the Sniper Hog Lights 66LRX. The range of that light really allows the scope to see much further at night than the stock illuminator that comes with it.

@@StrayBullet972 Great! thanks for answering so fast! the hog video i had seen, i was only searching on scope and abl so couldn't find the other one. But i understand the set works perfect for you :D I'm thinking between this abl1000 and the ATN Laserballistics because that one can be used by someone else to range find for me, for this scope, or used independently for another scope which is not ATN and just wants to read the distance true this rangefinder its self. Help me out here with making a decision please🤝😎

RRRoy1000 I’m partial to the ABL because the system can be one unit with the scope. The rangefinder idea would be cool though because someone else could range find for you, but it’s more stuff to carry out in the field. If it was me, I’d stick with the ABL1000 over the hand held range finders.

Great video, why do you need an external range finder the X-Sight has one built in?
@StrayBullet9724 жыл бұрын
So the rangefinder is actually the one designed for use with the 4K Pro, and I’m not too big of a fan of the built-in rangefinder. You have to know the size of the animal you are ranging and for me as a newer hunter with only a few years experience, it isn’t something I’m very good at. The ABL 1000 removes any guess work associated with rangefinding and makes it almost a guarantee that I’ll connect with my shots on target, so long as my ballistic information is properly configured

@liedebunker12534 жыл бұрын
@@StrayBullet972 I think only ATN company can show the process of you reading the distance and the drop of the reticle. I saw someone tried to use a camera/smart phone to record the process, but the video turned out to be of very poor quality because the little screen inside the scope kept flashing through the camera/smart phone. Anyway, even without the process, your video is already amazing. Thank you.

I just bot a ABL 1000 and had a few questions. First off people said the laser sometimes doesnt line up with the crosshairs. Have you ran into that issue and found a way to solve it? Also people said when they mount it to the front of their scopes it is so heavy it can bend or break the scope so they attach it behind the focus, do you think it's that big of a deal?
@StrayBullet9723 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! So when you sight in the ABL to the scope, you can use the normal process described in the instruction manual, which utilizes the ABL’s visible laser. However, it does not line up 100% true. What I prefer to do is wait until dusk or even at night time and use the ABL’s actual IR laser strobe for zeroing. This allows you to have a 100% true zero to what you are ranging. I’ve never had the reticles of the two items line up, as you can see in a few of my hunting videos, there is an offset between them. However, it doesn’t play too much of a role because my scope has that true zero to the ABL’s laser. For those who had issues breaking their scopes, I would say that was due to the calibers they were using. I ran it for quite a few rounds on my 6.5 Creedmoor, but I also had a brake on it that took recoil off. When I moved the scope/ABL combo to my AR, I used Apex 3D’s Relocation Kit to move my ABL to my handguard. So long as you don’t run your scope/ABL on a heavy caliber and have some sort of recoil reducing setup, you should not have a problem. If you’re running it on a platform that has side rails though, I’d recommend picking up that kit so you completely eliminate that worry of bending or breaking your scope.

When ranging why is the reticle not on target ?
@brockmoorewallace83474 жыл бұрын
Believe the ABL is on the target, then uses ballistic info to reset zero. There are videos that also show whats being seen through the scope. Recticle doesnt matter you put the ABL on target let it do the calc using ballistic info when its done then you sight in the target.
@StrayBullet9723 жыл бұрын
There’s a separate reticle specific to the ABL that shows up in the scope and that’s what you put on the target. It offsets from the actual aiming reticle, which is why each time I range targets, my regular reticle is down and to the right in the video.
@JohnVHRC5 жыл бұрын
Why dont you have to point at the target to get the range? Must not be using the abl?
@StrayBullet9725 жыл бұрын
JohnVHRC I was using the ABL. Some of the shots I took in the beginning were ranged prior to recording. In the segment where I go from 200-518 yards shot-by-shot, I had to range each time and the ABL changed the distance accordingly (which is why at times in the video, my crosshairs are aimed offset to the target). When you are ranging, a different set of crosshairs appears inside of your scope, and that’s what you place on the target. After it acquires the range, it reverts back to your normal crosshair.

@@StrayBullet972 you should be able to move the able radical to match your crosshairs kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKaxiaWdfq6bpJI
@bophoto5 жыл бұрын
@@adamvaughan14 the ABL do not align to the crosshairs, it align to the ranging box (that what I call it) because the crosshairs constantly change depending on range. the laser shoots straight, so its always the same location, you have to lower the rifle a little and place the box in the center of the screen on the target when ranging. you can see that behavior in StrayBullet972's video, he move the weapon lower the angle a bit while ranging, then pick up and place the shot based on the newly adjusted crosshair.

You engage the ABL by pressing the ranging button on the scope, the ABL is connected via BlueTooth - there are no buttons other than the ON-OFF on the ABL. biggest thing to get used to is that the ABL naturally shoot straight, so out at 500+ you will notice the ranging box is up higher, you need to lower the rifle to place the ranging box on target, leave it there until the box goes away, the crosshair will adjust and you can take the shot. literally 1 click setup.. wait for it to finish and go

You’ll need the ballistics info of the cartridge you’re shooting, the average FPS of the rounds fired from your rifle using a chronograph, and the known distance you’re zeroed to. I zeroed this scope at 100 yards and then gathered all of that data through Hornady’s website & using my friend’s chronograph. From there, I zeroed the ABL to the scope, again at 100 yards, and proceeded to let the ballistics calculator do the rest for me! Also keep in mind weather conditions as well if you’re stretching out to further distances.
