Raven is an immortal mage, and canonically speaking among the most powerful characters in Guilty Gear. He views his immortality as a curse and has developed a complex around the fact he can't die, hence why he has no care for his body being incinerated by his own magic... because it can't kill him, even if he really wants it to at the end of the day. He is obsessed with finding a way to die.

All of the characters have a slightly different reaction to being saved from Dizzy's move by her pacifism (there's a reason she's not the one doing all the attacking). In some ways my favorite is Slayer's: he might actually be able to survive it, but he still raises his hands with a general air of "all right, I admit that I may have crossed the line here from playing with those like-minded souls I come across into outright bullying a relative child" and Surrenders.

If it helps, the thing with Ramlethal is that that her Instant Kill remains the same from the first version of Xrd, where she was the final boss of that games arcade mode. She entered the series as a villain which is why her IK is so savage, but that aspect of her didn't last long, she's learned to lighten up since then.

The GG story is nutty, would definitely suggest making your way through it, love the characters. The earlier games have that Fighting Game problem where everyone has a story/arcade mode and figuring out canon can be messy (not helped by inconsistent translations), but GG1 is peak 90s, while X and its sequel XX (and its revisions #Reload and Accent Core) will set up the rest of the cast. 2 Overture got more focused on telling a single narrative and has some cool exclusive characters, but its also a weird 3D fighter MOBA thing. Accent Core Plus (and its revision +R) released after Overture and is a separate story from the original XX and ties into Overture. You'll have to look up Vastedge XT cause plot important pachink game is no longer availBle. Finally, for Xrd, Sign and Rev are separate stories, each character has an Episode/arcade mode storyline that is important, and then the Story Modes are essentially full fledged in engine anime added to th console versions. Same for Strive, but you should probably do story mode first there before Episode/Arcade mode. Or you can be like a lot of people and look up a lore video before jumping into Sign/Rev/Strive/whichever. Some OST reactions would also be fire.

The Episode/Arcade modes are pretty important storywise as well, so if sitting around watching 6 hours of in engine anime doesn't sound good then thats also an option. Important to note: Xrd Sign is, storywise, a completely different installment from Revelator/Rev 2, even if gameplay wise they're different revisions of the same fighting game.

If you want to catch up on the story there's two easy things to watch to get all of it, though it'll be hard to react to. 1) Woolie VS has a comprehensive entire story summation and timeline series of videos that are really well done and cover everything up to Strive. 2) Strive itself has a three hour (base game, dlc added more) story movie you can watch, free with the game.

The story modes for both Xrd and Strive are essentially 4 hour animes with no gameplay, that being said I love seeing ppl watch them especially Xrd, altho Xrd actually has 2 story modes technically. Chronological order would be Xrd SIGN, then Xrd Revelator, and then the extra episodes they added in Xrd REV 2. If you want gameplay tho, each character has their own route in arcade mode with their own little story, and in Xrd their arcade modes actually build up to the story, altho in Strive the arcade takes place after the story. For people getting into Guilty Gears story my recommendation is always to watch the first four episodes of WoolieVersus's Guilty Gear Lore series on KZbin, then watch Xrd SIGNs story, then watch the beginning of Woolies 6th episode to get Revelators arcade mode summarized, and then watch Revelator/REV 2, and then watch Strive. Just to vouch for Woolie real quick, the story of Guilty Gear before Xrd is pretty hard to piece together since it's spread across so many games and other supplemental material like mangas and stuff, but his video series puts just about every relevant thing from the beginning up until the end of Xrd in one place and presents it all in a very entertaining way to boot. I still would recommend watching Xrd and Strives story modes in full tho cuz Xrds especially rules.

Fun fact about Faust instakill: Yes, he have different stuff for the characters. BUT the most unique one is from Zato. Since in terms of Lore Faust have a beef with Zato, that's why he says that will carve him the next time. For the rest of the roster he just crack some funny line. The only hostile one is exclusive to Zato.

I honestly I’m confused whenever I use to play Guilty Gear, I’m not use to doing quarter circles. If you didn’t know btw, alongside Tekken there is also Soul Caliber. Any thoughts to have a look at Soul Caliber 6’s special attacks? Defeating a character with them have special cutscenes and only like 2 have alternative supers as well

@@ChocolateKieran i dont suggest strive, it doesnt have a true "combo trial" system as its all player made stuff that you search for. unlike a pre registered combo trial that 50/50 probably not optimal but still cool as hell. i do suggest Xrds combo trails however and checking out the story of guilty gear. its a very fascinating story with a ton of deep messages that are very relatable. and also the story mode writing is really good except for strive where its a bit effy

tho playing strive, absolutely! one of my top3 fav fgs ever. also i noticed some stuff that i wanted to point out a bit. millia and zato were lovers, ky and dizzy have sin as their son. sol is the guilty gear and protag. raven and slayer are immortal beings. bedman (romeo, the boy who is btw always sleeping) died lmao. venom, zato, millia, and slayer have a orginazation known as the assassins guild. leo has war ptsd. ram-le-thal, elphelt, and jack-o are all "sisters" from a other worldly being known as the universal will. jack-o is sols wife reincarnated, jack-o gets the hair change when she fully becomes aria (sols wife). sin is a half gear and is canonically 5 years old in strive. gears are basically just genetically modified organisms that are really strong and stuff
