What a great build, can't wait for the track videos! With the low end torque this thing has from around 3500rpm, you'll be able to use 3rd many places instead of 2nd to manage traction and save on a shift coming out of corners. Mid range torque/power is under-rated on the track, particularly at a place like tmp. You made a wise decision to go with the gt30 setup, the power band is so usable.

@@Skirk84 I helped my friend with his supra. It ran on a 100% Stock bottom end 2jzgte vvti, all it had was cams, springs and retainers with head studs. @Skirk842 жыл бұрын
@@madkas14 yeah sometimes you get lucky. But theres a lot more things to break than just an engine. I twisted a tailshaft, broke a crown and pinion in the diff, snapped axel, flogged out all my bushings, broke a belt tensioning bracket, 3 harmonic balancers, melted coilpacks and wiring, busted radiator, turbo gaskets, catalytic converters, snapped one clutch pressure plate and welded another to the flywheel. I was around 520whp for 5 years and didnt break a thing. Went to 650whp and broke everything listed plus dropped a ring land in the engine. Spent another 5 years upgrading everything to handle 850whp @25psi reliably. I do around 250,000km's a year of driving and havent broken anything in 30 months.

The G35 turbo comes on later, and although makes more power, also will help with those traction issues. The torque band is shifted higher up and that can help from "blowing the tires off"

You guys need to build something with that power in AWD. Even 612 WHP in my subaru, it's only broken loose in a straight line in the cold rain (5c or lower) in second before. Warm rain or on a dry road, in a straight line it just grabs and goes. No lighting up the tires.

if you upgrade to an equal length turbo manifold, you will increase your mid range torque and therefore increase your response and also clean up that exhaust note, so your exhaust pulses are not colliding into each other. other than that its perfect. Good Work guys
@speedacademy2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, a tubular manifold increases engine bay heat so much that it negates any real gains as it severely heat soaks everything. Not a big deal on the street but on track its huge

Looks like a very handful drive 🤘 I think you will need to put more rubber in the back, 275-285, needs more traction.😅 About the G35-900, with the .83 housing it would have been less laggy then you experienced. Anyway nice choice on the G30-770 with the 1.01, very responsive. Really love this build and all the infos and details you shared. Can't wait to see it on the track. Supra for the win ! 😎 To end, I see your local streets are crappy, makes me feel better about our streets here in Quebec 😂

So clean, but I would imagine that suspension would grind on you after about an hour of driving. You can almost feel the expansion joints just watching the video, much less being in that cabin. That's the price you pay for track performance.
@Skirk842 жыл бұрын
I dare say mine is much more harsh than theirs, using all solid diff, subframe mounts and solid bushings and rose joints through the entire car including swaybars and steering rack. But with good dampening im fine to do 1000 mile trips in it. A lot more comfortable than my 100% standard 4x4 hilux which is rough as guts and just too bumpy for anything passed the local day trip.
@midnighteightsix69192 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought the same, it seems far too stiff in either damping or spring rate. Looked like it wasn't absorbing anything.

I'm a little bit behind when it comes to turbos, but how would that G30 compare to an equivalent EFR turbo? I heard the EFRs are really responsive.
@Skirk842 жыл бұрын
I just made a comment about this. I use an efr 9174, full boost at 3000rpm. 800+whp. Im not good with hp numbers but roughly 250hp at 2000rpm, 350+hp at 3000rpm, making 800whp somewhere around 5500rpm and holding it to 8500rpm. But i rarely use that boost setting its too fast, more scary than fun. 650hp is the sweet spot being able to floor it for long periods of time banging thru the gears around corners etc. Also transient response is insane, anything around or over 4000rpm when you go from nothing to stabbing the throttle its instantly screaming and near full boost by the time your foot reaches the floor. Races with Tesla's wont let them get the jump on you at all. No wheelspin with warm tires either, very progressive linear curve.
@bluesrike2 жыл бұрын
@@Skirk84 Yeah, 800hp sounds like too much for road racing. But I always felt like a 9174 is a bit too big for both a 2J and the RB26. Would an 8374 be more reasonable for 650hp? And are you using a twin-scroll/divided housing? I heard about a company called "TurboSource" that's trying to make a "variable A/R" turbo which from what I understand, is like the variable geometry turbos used in the 911 GT2 RS.
@Skirk842 жыл бұрын
@@bluesrike yep absolutely, the 8374 is what i would recommend. 500kw (700hp) easily. I'm using 1.05 twin scroll t4. And its great for spool but my back pressure is up there and it's because the compressor is larger than the turbine, so technically i need a bigger rear housing... But i want response, not lag. The 8474 is a better turbo than mine but the 8374 is more appropriately sized.
@thinwig99532 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard the 8374 is quite high power, and the 7670 falls off too early in the powerband so you can’t rev it out. The do have a combo one called the 8370 which I was debating on getting. But not being able to swap and test between turbos and A/R housings makes it really difficult to choose…
@wd80052 жыл бұрын
Borgwarner EFR Series Turbo have the lightest turbine wheel compared to any latest turbo in the market. Yes lighter than the G Series from Garret. The tip in response of the EFR is insane from what I’ve heard.
