I, personally, as a racing driver, love street circuits specifically because they punish the opposition harder. My consistency in a race car is my strength. Add in my immense pleasure from perfectly timed hops and rainy races, and this track is IT. This is it. This is the track for me

A great drivers track for sure this circuit. Very little room for error.

I loved that circuit and I was sad to hear it go. I'm also very surprised to hear you say that the reason for it going was financial. Also - I have to agree with you about turn 8 being on the best corners because of it characteristics making it a really difficult corner. Then you add no ABS and TC and it even more harder to nail and get right without either binning it or losing a bucket load of time. Like you said/covered in the video
@tydyeracinggaming4742 Жыл бұрын
Turn 8 was fantastic, always seemed like such a satisfying corner to get right.

Financial reasons is the simplest way of putting it. It had been widely criticised from a environmental standpoint due to the number of trees uprooted, but the main reason was the inability to use any of the 4 major arenas/stadiums located within the precinct during the week of the event which was obviously a massive loss for the area. They looked at cutting out half the circuit) from the first chicane up to sort of mid-way down the back straight) to allow the use of the Superdome and the Olympic Stadium but it wasn't feasible in the end.

I loved the fact that when you caught the train to Olumpic Park station, It was inside the track itself. That meant as soon as you got off the train the sound of the cars reverberated through and down into the station platforms, That and the paddock area was the showbag pavilion. A large building where teams would set the transporters and a double garage up.

@@AndrewGeierMelons Atlantics alone can provide at least a half dozen too, who doesn't love 70s-90s Atlantics in random places in Canada? To be fair, Montreal absolutely isn't a failure, the F1 at least. Vancouver, any race that has a fatality in the first year can only get better, or at least not get worse. I'm wondering if the Halifax, NS, one would be a candidate for the series though reeally. Vancouver stuck around for some 10+ years, Montreal's been around, and so on but Halifax is relatively unknown unlike the others

@@cameronheidelauf9623 Considering the comment I was replying to mentioned Canadian tracks, that's what I was replying to, I mean, I can think of quite a few Australian/Kiwi tracks but they've already been suggested or done, or don't seem to fail enough. That and the V8s haven't had too many out and out fails when it comes to street tracks. Now if you include all the tracks, there's some really awful tracks they've run at over the years (How Queensland ever got to be a 500km event baffles me)
@Jimlaad43 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, calling this circuit a "Failure" is a bit of an insult to it. As you said pretty much all the way through, it was a decent track which had its fair share of memorable moments and eventually ran out of money after more than half a decade of races. This track was a success. Failure should be saved for messes like Miami FE, Jingkai A1GP in Beijing and the other Beijing Street Circuit for Superleague Formula. They had glaring issues and didn't come back because they really were: Failures.
@farhanatashiga3721 Жыл бұрын
Broaden your horizon m8 Failure doesn't always have to mean a bad track with a litany of issues, a track can be good but still fail if it doesn't stick around for a long time. Sure 8 years is a long time for street circuit standard and sure it'll be memorable for years to come. But the fact remains that it was intended to be a replacement for an iconic purpose built circuit, and it fails to meet the financial requirements to become that for the long term. And so failure is right

Although the event itself wasn't successful, it was a great circuit. Look past the ninety degree corners, that's natural for a street circuit, this circuit was a perfect fit for V8 Supercars. And that Turn 9 was fantastically chaos-generating. The thing that really made it was the curved entry which meant you had to commit to the corner so early -- so if you got it wrong, there was no refuge in the escape road, you were already pointing at the wall.

Im in love in this series, because it help remember or discover street circuits that i didnt know existed So i wanted to suggest some tracks too 1) Beijing Olympic Park: I couldnt find much infos for the failure but i know it hosted 2 races of A1GP in 2006/2007 and then it hosted (with a different layout) Formula E for just 1 year i think in 2015 2)Bangsaen street circuit:Its a very narrow and underrated street circuit which was created in 2007, im not sure if it got cancelled beacause as far as i known it host a speed festival to this day, just wanted to know if you could find some more infos. 3)Callajero santa fe: This one used to host TC2000 and to this day i think it host Super TC2000 but with a totally different layout, the old layout used for 2006 and 2007 in fact was named "Gran premio de Santa Fe" and it used to be really narrow, i still dont clearly know why it was discontinued but there are a lot more info online. 4)Baku City Challenge:I just seen the Bucharest street circuit video even tho i arleady known this tracks, and so i remembered about baku city challenge street circuit that was in the city challenge calendar. To this day Baku host the F1 GP which is completely different to this one. I know it was used in the 2012 and got cancelled since city challenge ended( if im not wrong) 5)Baku World Challenge: A complete different layout(compared to the 2012 race)that raced on closed streets of baku in 2013 and 2014 with Gt cars, it got discontinued because formula 1 wanted to host races at baku starting from 2016. 6)Ribeirao Preto:A street circuit located in Brasil, Sao Paulo, that hosted Stock Car Brasil races in 2010,2013,2015, it was also planned to race in 2014 but for unknown reason (as far as i know) it got cancelled I dont think you ever talked about those street tracks and so i thinked it was a great idea to recommand them, tell me what you think :)

This circuit was the first circuit in Portugal to host a Formula 1 race and the last major motorsport event there was the WTCC that happen in the years 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013. However, in 2015 Porto City Council decided to suspend the races .
