Informative, clear and structured in a way that makes perfect sense. I have started this routine already today (and I am travelling!). Good luck for your 100 miler and keep these great videos coming!

Thanks Chris. Most appreciated. Trying to fit it allllllll in for my first 50klm

Oh it's so hard fitting it all in! My next video (out Thursday) is talking about my new training plan, and I have tweaked it slightly since this video. It's a constant game of trying to fit the puzzle pieces together 😊

Hi from India!!! Love your channel and most importantly the "Being" which you have become mate! I want to see you review someday the "Angamardana" offered by the Isha Yoga Centre as a pre routine for your build up to the D-day of running. That video will be an amazing one, will be waiting for it as well, please take note sir! :)

As you mention the hybrid guys in your video, I remember one theory being like "Don't do the same in strength training as in endurance training." It was meant to be "tough weights and only few reps" because you already have "low/bodyweight and lots of reps" while running. Whats your thought or experience on that? I guess you could easily make some more videos about different strentgh routines and their different approaches 😎

I think that's a good way of thinking about it. Strength is definitely achieved in the lower rep ranges, with a few minutes rest between sets. This can be counter-intuitive for runners because we feel like we need to be working all the time, but pushing heavy weights and resting in between gives our muscle fibres the best stimulus for strength gains. I😊🙏

Nice workout! I love single leg work. I'm interested in your falls in UTS. Were you running downhill? I'm useless at downhill techy running and have had some bad falls this yea so I walk the difficult stuff now. I'm thinking that if you fell while walking then I don't stand a chance 😂 For context, I'm 62 and have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (h/eds), which brings all sorts of interesting extra challenges to mountain running 🙄

Wow, well done for tackling mountain ultras with your extra challenges! My problem the year before was bad technique (I was taking too big steps), and LOTS of rain the day before which made downhill grassy sections so tough to stay up on. They were more 'slips' than falls, and I never hurt myself. The other thing I did better this year was to get much stronger, particularly in my quads. I've got a video coming out later today showing my favourite strength movement to prepare for the downhills; I hope it helps! 🙏

@@ChrisBranch I look forward to that! I've been doing a variety of strength (body weight) and mobility in the last couple of months, and it's made a huge difference to my running gait, and also proprioception (which is impaired with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome). I can really feel the neuromuscular benefits. It's taken me 30 years of running to finally persuade myself to stick at strength training for more than two days 😂 I've been studying UTS...I'm on the verge of signing up. I see there have only been 2 previous F60 finishers, so that's an incentive 😁
