I’m very much a novice, still learning and can see things in these videos where I need to improve!

Hi again, another very sensible, informative video. Im 64 and run, cycle and still have a physically demanding career. Keep moving, keep lifting. Free weights even if light, work intercostal and stabilising muscles in a way machines dont to the same degree. Its good to follow your various health and fitness series videos. Much appreciated

Elbows closer to your sides for bench press folks! Same for both barbell and dumbbell BP. Same for pushups now I think about.

I've downloaded Emma's workout sheet. I think I can duplicate the Home exercises pretty well. but what does TABATA stand for? Thanks again so much for these videos.

Tabata is a Japanese High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) protocol involving up to 8 exercises performed flat-out (or pretty close to max effort) for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest and repeated 8 times for a total of 4 minutes. It's a great way to start HIIT training and build cardio and muscular fitness as it keeps the heart rate elevated. Typically you would use exercises that work different muscle groups to further aid recovery while still using other body parts, such as upper body, lower body, repeated 4 times. The possible combinations are endless.

The reply is right. There are plenty of timers in the App stores. They allow you to set one that gives, for example, 10 rounds of 30” exercise followed by 15” rest, then go again, plus countdown “beeps” to the start and end of each period.

Being 'very much a novice', it may be unwise to appear on utube promoting routines which are at best sub optimal and which will produce only limited results.
