I think there're 2 style of strengthening. First is the regular risky reinforcement that Shirou and Rin used, the type that also boost the object's purpose like making lamp shine brighter. The other is mana burst/Aoko's style where you expel mana like jet engine to augment your strength.

Wait Aoko utilizes Manaburst?Arnt her Circuits like the Book definition of Average .They are C ranked.Her Od recovery rate and efficiency is likely extremely high due to her Circuit Rotation speed but I don't think she has enough Magical Energy to perform Manaburst(Saber expels Magical Energy equivalent to multiple modern Magi when fighting for a few minutes,Rin with her 1000 Units of Mana would hardly last 1 min with such a fighting style ,not to mention the accuracy and timming required to pull such a thing off.Artoria can do this because of 2 reasons.One ,she has a Magic Core that even if lowballed has atleast Magical Energy equivalent to a few hundred Magi( Assume 3000 to 4000 units since FGO states the highest ranking NPs of normal servants have an output within 4000 ). Now that Might sound impressive enough but No.What makes a Magic Core really impressive is not it's Capacity ,It's the Od regeneration.Artoria ,similar to Dragons can produce magical Energy by the mere act of breathing.Meaning that when summoned with a fully functional Dragon Core Artoria regenerates her Magical Energy with every breath.A magus requires atleast a few hours if not a day to recover their magical energy.Artoria can do it it mere minutes if not seconds. Two,her Instinct skill probably allows her to time her Manbursts right due to gut feelings.Even though it's never stated I personally believe that her Instinct skill is partially a result of her Draconic heritage,since even those more skilled than her like Lancelot or Herakles don't possess it.Only her and Modred posses that particular skill and Beowulf because he fights more like a Phantasmal beast than a human.

@@SiegfriedFafnirsbane The way mahoyo and melty blood describe Aoko self-reinforcement is different than how reinforcement was repeatedly describe in FSN. Specifically about in melee combat that she expelled mana out from her limb like jet engine as she strikes. That description is very similar to how Mana Burst was describe in material and depicted in FZ. As for how it's possible that might be related to how Aoko mana usage is extremely efficient. She's about 100 times more efficient than average mage who has od level of about 25 unit, so Aoko effectively has 2500 unit of od. Rin only has about 500 (1000 is her max output, not her capacity), so Aoko = 5 Rins. And due to that efficiency, each unit of od Aoko regenerate would also worth 4 mages capacity combine. With such crazy efficiency and Aoko main gimmick is that she just shoot raw mana out of her body, I think it's likely that Aoko can produce effect similar to mana burst (albeit weaker) while spending much less mana. Basically if Saber spend 100 unit per mana burst'd attack, Aoko would spend 1 unit for similar effect

The way I understand it reinforcement magecraft puts an additional value to your power which is why its useful if your are weak but not so much if you are strong. If the power was multiplicative then yes anyone not matter how strong they are will want to have it. What I mean is if your strength was a 10 and reinforcement was 70 then 10+70=80, which is a pretty good boost to power. But if your strength is 1000 like then an addition of 80 is nothing at that point.

Reinforcement is more of a multiplicative. The higher you base stats is, the stronger is the effect of Reinforcement. In-game it would be like 100% percent strengthening

Reinforcement is a multiplicative buff. It's just that the cost and difficulty of using it scales with the target. For example if you try to reinforce a regular sword, it won't take much energy to double it's parameters. However if you're trying to reinforce a noble phantasm it will take at least dozens of times more energy AND the process will require just as much more skill to not fuck it up and break it. Archer EMIYA does sometimes use low rank NPs on the verge of breaking from being almost overloaded with reinforcement as projectiles, however unlike a normal servant he can trace as many copies of said NPs as he needs. A normal servant however has to be careful with their NP unless they want to lose it. Besides that even those servant's that do know magecraft usually never felt the need to master such a difficult skill with so little payoff.

@@FerunaLutelou We don't know if Broken Phantasms are an effect of his reinforcement magecraft. That is just your speculation and it would have been stated to be reinforcemet if it was the case. The fact that all servants can do it means its more of a servant ability rather than magecraft which only mages can do.

5:00 Huh you know after watching HF and rewatching this fight in the F-route(plus some walkthroughs of the VN). I just discover somewhat of a plot hole. Kirei should NOT have died to that. Right? Shouldn't his fake/mud/black Heart made him keep fighting Shirou? Just like it did his fight with True-Assassin. Actually, now that I mention neither should his death in UBW make sense. Cause Cu stab him in the chest but should NOT work on him. He should just get back from both of these. Either I'm dumb-dumb or did Natsu f-up when he wrote HF?

No, see in HF his connection to the grail/mud was already broken by that point. So while he was still technicially alive, it was only on barrowed time. So he really couldn't actual use strengthening on himself since that would burn through whatever time he had left. His death in UBW is sensible becasue Cu's spear not only periced Kirei's black heart, it is speificially cursed so that any wound to the heart will *always* be fatal. The cruse it deilvers can only really be counted by very high luck and good reflexes (like with saber) but even then the wound it leaves is pretty bad and takes a long time to heal. In fact, it'll never truely heal completely until the spear is destroter or Cu is killed. As for the damage it does, it's best sumerized as "the damage that the spear would do + whatever the targets HP is", so Kirei was screwed.

First I already KNEW about what happened HF, especially how she Sakura cut Kirei off, and him on borrowed time. I didn't really say/ask about anything to do with strengthening. Don't know why that was brought up. My comment wasn't about his death the HF route, but the other two routes(Fate and UBw) that surrounds Kirei death in those. And why with the knowagle grain after watching HF why they didn't much up. If I didn't make clear in first comment, my b. Also as writing this my dumbass completely forgot the fact that Cu burn down the place they were both that. As a way to take Kirei with him, so I wonder after stabbing Kirei that he knew there was a chance that he wasn't fully dead yet.

Nah, in all 3 the deaths make sense. In og fate route, he literally took an explosion to the chest. He has no heart, but an explosion in the chest is still gonna run his fade. In ubw, he got hit by lancers spear, which is both a cursed weapon and a noble phantasm (on top of lancers burning the place down). In HF, the reason he tanked zabaniya is only because the attack was _only_ meant hit hearts, and had no additional effects.

I just realized if doing reinforcement bad makes the object break down to less than it was, then wouldn’t it be theoretically possible for a mage to intentionally reinforce something wrong to cause a bit of damage to it? I’d imagine at least with weaker materials like wood it would basically just make them explode right?

His projections don’t fade because of the extra steps he does when projecting something compared to everyone else. Can’t remember what route it was but Rin asks about it and he explains his steps of tracing which she was bewildered by because it was more than what was usually done for projection. So while others use projection and get hollow creations that merely look like the item they wanted, Shirou’s have more substance to them which makes them more real and thus Gaia doesn’t try to erase them by rejecting their existence. As for the degradation of a rank, it was stated to be because he couldn’t completely grasp an item’s existence through sight alone. In order to make a true one to one replica without any degradation then he’s need to study it thoroughly using all of his senses. That’s why he can project a perfect copy of Avalon, because it was a part of his being for 10 years. He had been unknowingly analyzing it the entire time.

Rin was able to reinforce for her limbs so well it make her bullshido an effective martial art lololol In reality, banjekan is fake master bullshido and it can't do shit in a real fight so you never see combat sports fighters even in mention in. It doesn't matter what they say purpose is for, it's useless in real combat. Hence it takes a lot of reinforcement to make it effected against people with no hand to hand combat skill lololol. Rin get's one punched by Caster's master's normal magic powered standard boxing techniques. It just shows you if Rin used Muy Thai/Kick Boxing or regular boxing with reinforcement against caster, she's make the heroic spirit vaporize instantly. You're not a fan of combat sports to know this Tsiah so I forgive you for thinking otherwise
