In this video, Beth Chandler discusses goals for use of a stress ball for treatment of lymphedema and some exercises and precautions to keep in mind. These exercises are not a substitute for seeing a lymphedema therapist like Beth in-person for the treatment of your lymphedema, and if you need compression garments, it is important to have those properly fitted to your needs. In this video, Beth also demonstrates the proper technique to put on a compression arm sleeve and glove.
If you are exercising safely and effectively and correctly wear your compression garments, use of your stress ball for lymphedema should help you meet the following goals:
-Decrease/prevent swelling in arm, chest or breast region
-Prevent blood clots in arm and chest
-Improve circulation
-Maintain/increase strength
-Maintain/increase range of motion
