I love non French speaking people reacting to Stromae, but I'm always a little bit sad that they'll never 100% get the true genius of his lyrics and wordplay.

Yes. But I think people who speak languages that comes from Latin can understand Pretty well the meaning. I’m Brazilian, and it’s normal to understand the lyrics of Stromae’s songs. But there’s one song in particular, “Carmen”. This song have English lyrics in the official videoclip, and man... The translate is very different from what he actually sings in the song. Carmen is a song by Stromae too.
@Jefferson_starkid3 жыл бұрын
@@felipeandelsgaard6393 I get what you're saying, and I agree you can understand it, but I really mean the nuances of the play on words, and the way the sentences are crafted. For example, as a Belgian who speaks Dutch as well, I can understand German, but I don't really speak it, so I understand German songs but my German speaking friend tells me things like 'this sentence is particularly beautiful because of how it flows' or 'this is great wordplay' because I don't really see those, since it is not my native language. I don't know if if I'm explaining myself very well :p
