Thanks Coach for sharing your thoughts on this, and deep dive into your reasoning.

This was very helpful, thanks Coach J and J. I find that the "isolation=socialisation" theory when applied to emotional mapping makes a lot of sense, cos I used to (and still do) beat myself up because I couldn't connect with the emotion/muscle. I find myself putting the emotions and the muscle on a pedestal. And I also start comparing myself to people who can, which crashes me both cognitively and socially.

It's so interesting to hear about isolation=socialization. When I had a breakup couple of months ago I couldn't understand why I spent all my time pumping in isolation and went away from lifting heavy

I love the exploration of the topics. Most fitness chat is overly mundane. Can you go too much toward the want with strength? Is this the idea of, 'the poison is in the dose'? Strength (intensity) does lend itself much better toward the objective and the need. Bodybuilding/isolation work is extremely comparative and therefore driven by the mind. There is no measurement without the other. I think this serves some well, and many not. Particularly so with the current zeitgeist of the West. Could you expand on your notion of 'full socialization'? Is that being completely driven by the want? The comparator?

Great podcast. Just curious, for your nutrition, is heavy cream still something your doing on a regular basis?

Yes I do, in my espresso

I can't wrap my mind around 1 set of anything. There is a big chance that I'm not training hard. But when I do bench for example, for 8ish reps. I feel like I can do 3-4 sets more. Do I need to go with more weight or reps? I really struggle to get this one
@Strongfit2 ай бұрын
Let me put it this way Can you do 1 set of bench for 5 reps and use the same weight for another set of 5? If the answer is yes, your intensity is not where it should be. Most of us CAN do more work, the question is whether you can recover from it, can you progress from it. 4 sets of 8 is to get bigger I assume? Is that working?
@tronzoryun35622 ай бұрын
@@Strongfit Oh I see. In terms of the progress no, not really :) I actually went down in weight from last year. I think I got caught in the thing that you are talking about - work vs intensity. After watching podcast I went heavier and did 1 set of 5 and 2nd set of 3ish. It felt more intense for sure. Afterwards I could go -10 or -15 kgs and keep on working on it. But the recovery would suffer I assume
@Strongfit2 ай бұрын
@tronzoryun3562 I would assume as well. The thing is why do the other sets? There has to be a point, toward progress (whatever that goal is). Extra work means extra recovery

If the goal is to become bigger, then isolation (hypertrophy training) has value right
@Strongfit2 ай бұрын
@@sasaj4968 hypertrophy and isolation are 2 different things

Thank you for the valuable content you're sharing on KZbin! I have a suggestion that may benefit your audience: consider creating a 10 to 15-minute video showcasing bodyweight exercises targeting every muscle group. This could serve as an excellent morning routine, helping people start their day on a positive note.
