mushy Well, I shouldn't have to validate anything to a total stranger. Seems like an odd request, no? I'll give you the back story so you can sleep tonight. My father worked up front at the Rainbow Room. He and I were both big fans of Chris, as were so many. He asked him to sign a Rainbow Room menu, and he obliged. So not only was it a cool thing for my Dad to do, it was even cooler that Chris was so gracious to sign it for me. And what he wrote encapsulated what Chris' life was all about. I thought sharing my comment about what he wrote would be something fans would like to hear about, like Styx commented above.

I completely agree, so funny, but I do think that every generation has a few greats (be it comedians, musicians, actors, etc.) but are surrounded by thousands of mediocre colleagues (admittedly with some years being better than others), only the greats really end up getting remembered. So we often end up looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses, forgetting the trash & mediocrity of the past, and remembering the greats, which makes it feel like the present has less talent. But anyway, sorry for the rant, I do agree with you though Chris was so funny that twenty year old stories about him is way funny then a lot of the comedy right now

@@roarke222 I don’t judge it so much as I don’t believe you can pass judgements on a past culture. He was definitely more funny than not, and enjoyed the company of plenty of whores, so…it goes without saying he was just being funny. Like how Pauly Shore dubbed girls named Lisa sluts back in the early 90’s…I laughed it off back then, but today that wouldn’t fly. I love asshole humor…as long as it’s not too mean, though sometimes harsh can be funny. For sure. Lately I have been watching a show with Dennis Leary. I love his no no-none-sense asshole humor. Farley has become that “mythical legend” people talk about. Many people now weren’t even alive when he was on top. But his legend is so huge that even young people now say he is the funniest comedian. No other comedians have that type of legend after they pass. JB, when he passed, it rocked the world but he was dark. And he was private. He was funny but not on a Farley level. I’m so sad that my friend is gone, but I’m so happy to have lived in the time where I got to see him be on top, no matter how short that time was. Man I miss my man. Love you Chris.

Same here I was 13 and watching him on SNL was the highlight of my week. His movies still make me laugh till I cry. I was really depressed for about a month after I heard he died. No one has ever made me laugh so hard.

Me too. I remember thinking, "He just hosted SNL a few weeks ago! How can he be DEAD?!" And then I stumbled upon the pics on the internet & really wished I hadn't. But that's the reality of addiction/excess I suppose.

I could watch a full-length movie of this. Chris was so funny and unbelievably sweet, and everyone who ever met him loved him. Beyond just funny celebrity stories though, he was a genuinely good person to everyone. He would volunteer at churches and with old folks' homes and children's hospital visits at the height of his fame, and he would NEVER talk about it and would beg the groups to not give it any publicity because it wasn't about the press or getting it on camera. He just wanted to help people, to hang out with them and make them smile. It may have been just a good-Catholic-boy instinct, but it still all came from being a good person.

I was really taken aback that I got emotional just reading Adam Sandlers lyrics at the end. Sandler has a good heart and you can tell with lyrics like that. He also tells a story true. This entire video is such a wonderful tribute to Farley.

That Jim Brewer story was amazing. As someone who was friends with a very charming drug addict, it really struck close to home. The chaos and weird people become far too much. That is so sad that Chris had to constantly seek validation like that. It was heartwarming that Jim Brewer offered comfort to someone in obvious crisis. Sad and tragic.

@@shawnlacue8071 Spade said he was judged for not being able to go to Farley's funeral, yeah. Most people assume it's a lack of manners, but for you, manners are the last thing you're concerned with. You're stuck in a weird place mentally, unable to go out in public cause you can't trust yourself, you feel like you could break down any second & it's humiliating. Nobody needs to see that

Doesn't blow my mind at all -- I think it's one of the most selfish things someone can do -- i've had friends and family members who have done that and I don't agree with it -- yes it is hard to go to someone's funeral who you cared about, but booohooo!!! life is so hard for you to deal with grief -- guess what....you're still alive, grow the fuck up and deal with it, make some effort for that person -- i've been to a baby's funeral, THAT was difficult, the most difficult thing i've had to do -- show some respect and go to the person's funeral for THEM and not for yourself.
