Fans don't realize that we all just witnessed the most disturbing, horrendous, despicable, and evil plot point of all of Re:Zero, which makes Capella the undisputed most evil character in the entire story. No, perhaps one of the most evil people ever written in anime. Evil characters like Pandora kill and do evil things in their goals, Petelgeuse and For... Sirus committed evil atrocities because they were forcefully stripped of their sanity. Nothing Capella does is for any sort of actual goal. She does this because she enjoys doing it. Remember what she did, though? What she did to those hostages, those innocent men, women, and children. She turned them into flies. She stripped them of their humanity and transformed their bodies into insects, which makes every second of their existence the purest form of torture. This is worse than every single return by death Subaru has faced combined. For the reason that, unlike Subaru, who can go back and have a chance to fix things and undo the horrible fate he and the others around him suffered... What Capella did can't be fixed... Think about that. These people are stuck like this, and there's no way to save them. They're stuck like this, and there's no fixing them! They're not even allowed to be granted the mercy of death. At least with every other villain, they put their victims out of their misery with death, or in Gluttony's case at their victims are still in human forms. She gave these innocent people the most terrifying and disgusting fate imaginable, and without giving them death as a form of mercy, it makes it the worst thing that's ever happened to anyone in this story.

subarus reset hasnt been nerfed to short increments or long ones the checkpoint can still be anywhere the reason subaru isnt restarting is because satella told him to stop using return by death as a means to find out info and that the people he cares about also care about him and they grieve when he dies so subaru is not recklessly trying to get himself killed anymore

I don’t think Subaru would restart because all his loops he learns something new and he takes that knowledge into the next loop as an advantage and he is always the focus in each loop but this season they’re other characters are getting more screen time and I feel like if subaru is going to loop, other characters won’t be getting this much screen time since if he restarts he’s the only one that keeps his memories

Capella's easily the most evil, sadistic, cruel, and horrendous of all the Sin Archbishops, and she showed it in this episode as well as the previous one. The author Tappei stated that she's by far the most evil of them all, they're all scum, but Capella is on a level of evil the others can't compare to. Sure Regulus is the strongest, Sirius is the angriest, Gluttony is the most rage inducing, but Capella is pure evil to her very core. Teppi (Author) likes to find even more disgusting and henious ways to abouslutely torture Subaru every Arc (seriously it'll keep getting worse). However the type od death isn't the only way he does this. It's the lack of death sometimes. Remeber after S2, Subaru isn't allowed or at leat WILL NOT under ANY circumstances willingly kill himself or throw away his life. However he is also per his agreement with Roswaal, not allowed to forsake, sacrifice, and/or abandon anyone important to him or his journey. its a personally motivation because he feels like it'd be immoral and selfish to do so AND Roswaal will literally just kill him and everyone around him if he ever does. About Return By Death, remember that the checkpoints are arbitrarily chosen by Satella (Might the Witch of Envy I can't recall which one chooses) they are usely chosen by hear to give Subaru a chance to save himself from that situation. I mean the power was given to him for that purpose, saving others is side benefit for Subaru specifically. It's not necessarily that Satella only cares about Subaru but just she's especially dedicated and indebted to him.
