In the traditional moussaka, we also use potatoes that we fry (we also fry the eggplant and we don't peel it entirely). It's not as healthy as your version, but it's got a very rich flavour! I'm excited to try your twist on moussaka!

I'm not Hellenic but I still make a pretty traditional moussaka. I never peel aubergine and use it and potatoes for my vegetables (I leave courgette out). For a really super good traditional moussaka, try Aki's recipe. I highly base my own from his.

@@DarthEcoli yes, Akis' recipe is as close to the traditional moussaka as can be! I'm Greek, so I have a VERY particular taste when it comes to the taste of the authentic moussaka!

3 Challenges: 1. 3 days worth of Keto breakfasts done in your own awesome and entertaining way. 2. 3 days worth of Keto lunches using a similar meat. 3. 3 days of Keto dinners using a different meat than the lunches. I love the way you take similar things and make them different with sauces or turning them into different dishes. I hope you do it!

I just want to say try to put the oregano as late as you can when you cook because it is added for the aroma more than the taste and if cooked for a long time it becomes bitter. Also why peel the eggplant?And it needs to be heavilly salted and then cleaned or else ot will also be bitter.
@mirandamom1346

You know, I’ve often heard this, but I stopped salting my eggplant years ago and I’ve had exactly zero bitter ones.

crs I love them too. I don’t know if it’s true, but I have read that eggplants get bitter the longer they’re off the vine, so the fresher the better. I’ve also heard that newer varieties have been bred to be less bitter.

Read this as if Uncle Roger was reacting/reviewing your shit. Oh no noo nooooooo! You don't peel aubergine. The peel is good for you and has all the flaaaaavour. Uncle Albie say: if you peel aubergine, you fucked up. Also, potatoes and maybe courgettes are also used, but courgettes I usually option out and just stick with potatoes and aubergine. Funny we ate the last bit of the moussaka batch I last made this evening, then I find this video. Also also, Air frying is the easiest and fastest way to cook aubergine.

Have you ever seen "The Lion King"? OMG.. Mufasa ( the reference for your joke) is Simba's father, Scar is the villain. You should also keep some of the skin on the eggplant, it will help improve structural integrity and texture.

NO that is not $1.71 perhaps per serving but not the whole dish with the meat , the meat alone is like $4.50, sauce in can .79 , 35 cents onion, Eggplant &1.50 and dont forget eggs, milk, flour, butter and spices and tin foil if you dont already have the spices and tin foil ,, OK so $7.14 without butter milk eggs and flour,, so if you had to add them cause you had none on hand you would have to buy the whole dozen eggs $2.15 , Butter $1.50, flour cheap brand $3.49 Milk small one $1.79 for a total of $16.07 and if you add the Tin foil $3.50 you get about 19.57 almost 20.00 and yes you can use the ingredients for other meals but if you dont have it upfront it is no way $1.71 and if you were to count the first total in servings it would be about 1.78 with all ingredients not counting if you dont have cinnamon $4.89 each serving ,, so say you dont have salt pepper or cinnamon Pepper $1.50 , salt $1.59 , and cinnamon $3.80 first total of $7.14 would be 14.03 and second total would be 26.46 which would then be a total of $6.61 per serving ,, Just saying lOL,, well that kept me busy for ten min of the down time from The lock down from Covid19 and BTW it was not called Covid19 because of the year is started in china , 19 in the word stand for the strain of virus in the Coronavirus family it is ,,
