Stryper is some of the greatest produced pop rock ever laid to track. These guys are pros pros and pulled this shit off live w very little complication. Michael Sweet in his prime is up there w the Halfords, Dickinsons, Tates and Perrys of the rock vocalist pantheon. Untouchable.

I still remember seeing them on this tour at six flags magic mountain when I was a teenager. I was a pretty big fan back then. This was my favorite striper album. In fact, I still have a white vinyl copy in my collection. I also have an original copy of to hell with the devil on vinyl with the original cover that later got banned. Interestingly enough, they are still around and writing new music. I've heard a few things they've done over the last couple of years. Michael Sweet still hasn't lost his pipes. It sounds like we have much in common. I grew up playing several instruments but, as a teenager I focused on guitar. Later, I played in my high school jazz band. Still, my true love was hard rock and heavy metal. Like you, I am also a competitive grappler. I've been on a wrestling mat since I was 7 years old and I have cross-trained in several disciplines. After high school, I wrestled NCAA division 1 for 4 years and finished with a record of 118-3. After completing my undergrad, I went on to do my graduate work and received my Masters of science in sports medicine administration and my doctorate in exercise physiology with an emphasis on biomechanics. Obviously, I discovered that I was a far better exercise scientist than I ever was a musician. Lol. Through it all, I never lost the wrestling bug. I still occasionally compete in exhibition matches.

I bought the album that day... and rocked out. And, yes...I DID point out all of the Christian lyrics to them... of course. Seriously, though... the absolute loudest concert I ever attended... Stryper, in Amarillo, Texas. My ears were still ringing, the next morning.

Stryper is a very underrated band. They get a ton of flak for their lyrical message (it CAN be a bit preachy) without actually listening to the musical content. It rocks so hard and you don't have to be religious to appreciate them. As a musician myself, they're all killer and no filler. The guitar work is super awesome, Robert Sweet is a BEAST on the kit (he's still one of my heroes as a drummer), Tim Gaines rips that bass and Michael Sweet still has those awesome pipes. Glam Metal came along later when metal became mainstream. Bands like, Motley Crue "Theater Of Pain" album/tour only, not anything else they did. Poison 1st album cover is an example, the band Cinderella too, they wrote some great songs. This wasn't the 1st time music had gone through this. Bands from the 70s like, New York Dolls and solo artist's like Gary Glitter and David Bowie had actually given birth to it.

Probably one of the most talented metal bands of all time. A shame that they don’t get the credit they deserve simply because they choose to stand up and and speak what they believe in their music. I think its awesome that you don’t skip over bands just because of their lyrical content. Rich, you’ve been a fan of Kansas for years. Their lead singer for the song Play the Game Tonight which you had Kel react to is John Elefante. I’d urge you to check out a solo hard rock song him. So please check out any of these: #JohnElefante Hello My Good Friend #JohnElefante Slay Your Demons #JohnElefante One Day Down By the Lake #JohnElefante The Truth, The Life Plainfield,IL Thanks!
