We all know Kane shouldn’t be playing as he hasn’t made one single run into the box to be on the end of a cross or pass!…Wilkes comes on two minutes later and that run is what we have been missing all tournament!!..and he puts it away!!! It’s about having the bottle!!..the tactical awareness!..the foresight..it’s about going out all guns blazing in the last minutes if you’re losing and doing something about it! What it’s not about is defending a 1-0 lead in a final against a good team when you have the upper hand and an attacking squad! That’s the reason it’s not changing for the sake of it!! Make no mistake we are lucky to be here again! I’m very glad we are and I hope we do it. That goal against Slovakia 🇸🇰 by Bellingham was fantastic..But it saved his job there and then and people like you would be singing a different tune! He even managed to mess his team talk at halftime,they were fantastic the first half!! He got them too come out and play the Gareth way the second. He needs to go what ever the result is.

As an Irish observer of Englands run to final and previous tournaments, which previous England manager had these traits that you listed and how did that work out in the past? Surely a previous manager had similar quality and depth that GS has currently at his disposal with this squad Its interesting for me as an outsider, to see a team that has made consecutive finals of the Euros and a not too shabby WC record under their current manager, but the fans still demanding more, smacks of greediness given the famine that they had to endure for decades previously Win a trophy and then maybe look to increase the flair

Gareth Southgate I believe is in the same boat. He has done wonders behind the scenes, he has created the foundations for England. Win or lose the final it’s time to change things so we stand the best chance of success at the world cup. Southgate has built a good foundation but in this euros he’s shown that he can’t maximize the potential of the talent in the squad by implementing an effective system and playing style. I’d like to see Eddie Howe takeover and have the next 2 years to get to grips with the job. It could be our best chance of glory at the World Cup. As Pearce says here, Southgate could stay on in some capacity to help that transition.
