Why does stucco buckle at the bottom?
FYI, the stucco buckled because there was no weep screed. Thus, this stucco wall could not flex.
Why did it not have a stucco weep screed?
Excellent question; stucco weep screeds were not invented until around 1975.

Hey Gil, the weld crete helps with the bond, but if you’re going over wire it’s not necessary. On this job there was some painted surfaces that needed attention? Have a great day! Kirk Giordano Plastering

I worked with a guy who never wore a particle respirator. He was demoing a moldly bathroom and was out for 2 weeks with pneumonia and another 2 weeks till he was back to normal. He wore one after all that

It's common sense to wear them, unfortunately, I rarely wore them. Do I have issues? I've no clue, but at 60, I can say the cement bags do seem heavier, what's up with that? 🤔🍻

At 5:42 - is there a downside to patching with a traditional 3-coat process, waiting 72 hours and wetting 3x daily on the 3/8-inch scratch, and then add a 3/8-inch brown and wet 3x daily for two weeks, and then hiring you to do *only* the 1/8-inch final coat + matching the texture? Or do you find homeowners that DIY part of the work annoying?

This type of buckling has occured on our stand alone garage. However, it's a little more sever in that the parts beneath the buckling are loosening and breaking away, leaving no solid stucco on the bottom to tie into. What would you do in our situation? I've dug away some of the dirt where the bottom broken pieces are buried. Can I pay you guys to consult with us, over the phone and email? We also have a house with second story stucco -- stucco around the windows and on the angles roof is completely bubbling up, and open to the rain and snow. I would love to handle all of this as soon as possible and am scouring all your videos for answers but some specific advice four our situation would be so valuable -- can I call any of you about this?

Hey Kirk where do you buy the scoops that you use to get the mud out of the bucket can you find them at Home Depot or do you have to go to a plaster yard?

Hi Kirk, Thanks for your informative vids! I want to try and re-stucco my house. There is one old layer of smooth stucco (1940) and one layer of yukky throw upppy stucco on top of that. Can I restucco on top of this mess?!! Thanks, Sally

Good evening Sally, yes, you can however proper preparations are necessary, as in pressure washing and an application of a bonding agent to the existing walls before application of new stucco, I would highly recommend you hire a professional for this type of project, as it takes at least 10 years of applications to really understand how to do this properly. For me to understand your work is to repair the wall etc but it’s an painters job to make it no longer an eye sore? .. I bought an house it has some falling stucco in small areas and paint falling off on some areas I’m expecting to have some eye sores but rather have it fixed then not,

Howdy James if the stucco patchwork does not match as close as possible. No amount of paint will help it. Paint enhances flaws. No one can match every single stucco finish, but the closer it does match then the priming and painting does the job.🍾

It's called luminite, but do yourself a favor and buy "Rapid set Stucco" from HD or lowes in boxes or bags it has all the accelerators and sand in it, you just add water.

Good evening Michael, no worries, it's called, "luminite" but a bag sells for about 60 to 80 dollars, and they only come in 94-pound bags. Plus, they are only sold at cement or plastering yards. Save yourself the time and buy, Rapid set Stucco," at Home Depot or Lowes, this product sells in 10 to 25-pound boxes or bags that weigh around 50 to 94 pounds. All you do is add water, no sand or accelerator needed as it's all in the bag. With all the same day cement plasters, don't overmix. I mentioned above how expensive accelerators are, the "Rapid set Stucco," has the accelerators added at a fair cost, it's now foolish to buy, "Luminite" unless your a big time stucco contractor as too much would go to waste. 🤔 Bringing peace, love, and harmony back to the world of plastering.
