At first, I used a lot of my gelli prints for making greeting cards. Now it's Christmas, I purchased a bunch of those gift bags from Dollar Tree at 3 for $1.25 and then trimmed and glued gelli prints to the front and backs of them. My friends were delighted!

I layer my prints on card stock for cards or coasters. I “glue” my prints onto boxes that I use for gifts. I also gelli printed straight onto a couple of terra cotta pots. I find that the thin prints (tissue or deli paper) are beautiful for layering. Thank you so much for sharing your process. I get obsessed with gelli prints and I like to have an “end game” for them but not always. Your art is beautiful!

I have a tip.. if you have a die cutter, run your waroed paper thru it for a quck pressing without any heat! But make sure to layer up some wax paper and a bit of cardboard or paper to prevent shadow impressions from the cutting plates. Anyway, I am in N.CAROLINA also! I’m a starter, if you don’t have the Tim Holtz 8 1/2” micro blade scissors, you need them! Like your little ones both are micro blades ( they are tiny cuts in the blade) they make trimming a card a breeze. That long blade lets you get a straight cut easily. They are also titanium (?) so sticky things like tapes, glues come off really easily, or don’t stick. Some of what you saw as an artist, we couldn’t see, like orange on the heart.

@@63artemisia63some, like me, can't afford to just spend money to try out playing with stuff when we don't know yet how they might use it. I personally have wasted money on things I really don't use because I didn't research/try it first. I will eventually figure out ways to use it, but it's smart to get an idea of what you want to create, in the end. Especially on items that aren't exactly cheap or easily diy. I see what others do, but it may not fit into what my goal to create is. It's great to be able to buy to play, if you can afford it. If you are just starting out a new art or craft, sometimes you really need to see something finished to keep you motivated, at least I do. If it's going to take 5+ steps to a finished product, I might just get overwhelmed and give up. It should always be fun, though, I totally agree on that one🥰

The plates have actually come way down in price since they were released many years ago but if you don't want to spend even 20 bucks you can get the little mini plates that usually come three in a pack and they're $15 at most and then you can play with the small ones and see if you like them. You can also actually make your own jelly plate using gelatin. there are formulas and videos online about how to make an actual jelly plate using gelatin they don't last as long of course but they do work. good luck

Greetings! I've spent the last 3 evenings watching this and scribbling notes. I have a 5x7 hello plate and my room mate has a jumbo 12x12 that I've used a few times. I have a small collection of prints zero A categories yet. I got a lot of ideas from you. Plus some helpers techniques like matting/ trash/ balance/distressing/sentiments. I tend to over think and just stare & suddenly I can make no decisions like color choices haha. I've mostly made cards ( haven't started Christmas yet) and have been trying collage in my bible art projects. I have many of the items you listed but do have the embossing danger on my wish list :) I have enjoyed listening to you teach and really appreciate that you share some of your life experiences/feelings and honesty where you are as you approach your art sessions. thank you

Just start playing, make mistakes, especially with colors... that's how we learn. Keep the color wheel on mind when combining paints. If they are opposites, compliment colors, they'll make mud. If they're next to each other, they are friendly colors and blend well. A prints take time to develop. You've got this! It's a fun tool, and the sky is the limit. 😘😍🎨

I have a big issue - I cannot get the mat and then the project part on the card stock perfectly aligned. It is almost always crooked. How do you adhere and align each layer to get the even border. Once it touches down, it’s stuck for good and is always crooked. So a beautiful card is now ruined due to the print, the mat and the base being crooked.
@susanzapletal5299 Жыл бұрын
I have seen many crafters put double sided tape aligned near each edge and then fold the release tape back a little, then add glue to the centre and lay the item down and you can move it around slightly and pull the release tapes out and away. Natasha Foote does this a lot to line up mats etc.
@IngridBlackburn Жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I will say, I take my time to align it, and it's 20+ years of experience doing it ... But, this is also why I like using gel medium/liquid glue cause you have a bit of time to adjust if needed. Double sided tape isn't as forgiving. Start with the glue till you find your rhythm. Be graceful with yourself. I know you can do this! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment! I appreciate it. ❤️😘🎨

Why is it that in every crafting video I've ever watched where scrap strips are used the strips are all straight and even?! None of my trimmings are ever even no matter what type of trimmer I use! I never feel like my trimmers cut straight anyway, and small scrap strips exacerbate that making them hard to use w/o modification.
@sheribrockmeier1272 жыл бұрын
You could possibly use the uneven trims and use them for paper beads. Also a very cool project and they dont have to be straight. I can not cut straight either if you could not guess.
