In some places, ushers are volunteers. Ik for a fact that Cincinnati's Music Hall and the Aronoff Center, both with professional touring shows coming through all the time, are only volunteer ushers. Be a concessions/bartender there instead. As long as you are old enough to handle alcohol.

i do this for free basically at our highschool shows (i mostly just work tech, but during intermissions we become in charge of being ushers)

Hey, Im in the TX, USA and in my area it's $8 dollars an hour, with tips. Yes, you read that right. Some places do $12-13 if don't want to get tips so it's a high-turnover job for most younger people. It's cool to learn about other countries and their pay.
