There's an expression along the lines of "it takes a real musician to be able to play in multiple musical genres or idioms competently. A lot of cute comments below, but everyone missed the Lee Sklar being so good he isn't a fish out of water here....but his playing is so damn fluid you'd think he was a jazz recording artist....and he isn't. Mr. Sklar is more known as a celebrity bass player but primarily in rock-pop-crossover land. He has played with so many great musicians over his career.....it is mind boggling....but this is really the first I have seen/heard him cruise a session with all jazz and smooth jazz instrumentalists.....just amazing....he is as versatile a player as one can imagine. A classic jazz improvisational number here...great players one and all.

Great studio musicians are first and foremost great musicians..And the bar in every genre is constantly being raised . Nothing people are capable of shocks me any more- in a good way...

He went to Cal State Northridge for Jazz for a couple years and then dropped out to tour and do studio sessions so he has that training

Logically as a wind player I pay more attention to the flutist. But reading the comments I don't see any saying about the guitar player. He is great! All of them are great!
