I was just thinking about this the other day, like i really miss how in the sims 3 you had to read recipe books in order to be able to cook them, and i HATE how in the sims 4 you have to go to a vendor and buy every single food item in order to know the recipe. Like I love cooking in the sims but its so annoying how hard it is to learn every recipe, like NONE of my sims know any recipes from selvadorada because you have to learn the selvadoradian history first in order to even get the recipes. I just miss the books. Its way more realistic anyway. You dont learn how to cook something just from eating it once

Like, imagine having a grandparent Sim able to teach a child Sim how to make the scones they've made every night of their teen, adult, and elder life. They're going to wait for Paralives, Life by You, and Project Renee to come out and adjust based off the communities reviews, to try to no kill the franchise a la Sims City. The reasons I am not excited about sims appliances. IRL, I store my waffle maker in a cabinet, I take it out to make waffles, I store it back in the cabinet and my counter is free. In Sim life, things start taking up counter space cause they can’t be stored like they can IRL.

If there was a pie menu for "eat" and the sim choose whatever they wanted at random, I wouldn't care, lol. Unless the sims can store it and autonomously pull it out. I would never use it by my own selection, there's just other things I focus on in gameplay. Eating is more a thing I have to get out of the way to get back to the fun stuff.

The only way this could be solved is by using the snowy escape cabinets because they’re open, but that’s not an advantage or a good thing. Cabinets should have the “open” option like fridges, and then that could open the door for making a Sims trip to IKEA, SIMKEA, or whatever they prefer 😂 I mean, we could go shopping for kitchenware and everything.

I think Project Renee is just the new Sims Online. I feel like this is a way to sneak in a parallel multiplayer sims-like game and see how many players they can get for it and how they can monetize it. Without actually making it Sims 5. Less risky since Sims 4 players will prob continue paying into this game for the next 10 years with just minor objects and updates thrown at the game. They want Sims 4 to be “The Sims” and project Renee a ‘cousin’ game with Multiplayer that will likely be monetized the same way over time. There is no Sims 5. And LBY and Paralives are honestly not a current threat. As much as I want them to be.

@@DoveJS If it gets to market, I will buy Paralives the day it drops (I buy nothing sims the day it drops, so....) that being said, they are an indie company and production will be an uphill battle. The fan supported funding is keeping them going but people are starting to complain who wanted the game like yesterday. Even if the game drops, it will be compared to the Sims and so I hope it's allowed to be it's own thing and people appreciate how hard it is for a fully indie game to come to market and that there is no way in heck they can come to market with everything Sims has now. I am willing to grow with Paralives, but I'm not sure how much the Market that expects "Sims but more" is interested in it being a smaller game that grows over time. I'm cheering on LBY to also steal some customers, but currently not interested if I am honest.

Reminder that they kept supporting Sims 2 whilst Sims 3 was out, and kept supporting Sims 3 (and the marketplace) for quite some time after Sims 4 released. So... that doesn't rule out Project Rene from being Sims 5. It could just that they're saying they'll exist side by side (for a bit at least knowing EA) to keep people hating on it happy. Or because they have Sims 4 available via their EA play subscription and know they can keep making money selling the expansions for it for some time yet.

I think they are blatantly putting Renee in the Spin off category. This isn't a transition between games, it's sims 4 makes a ton of money and they know they can keep throwing stuff in it, but still want to get into the multiplayer online market. Something that was already tried and failed with The Sims Online....but now business models exist that show a working format they are trying to get into. So instead of risking the successful game (and financially it is successful) they're trying the spin-off route. This is the third attempt at online multiplayer Sims. Sims Online (which launched and wasn't as successful as hoped), Project Olympus (canceled and reshuffled into Sims 4), and now Project Renee.

Wouldn’t be surprised if EA are giving weather for free but expecting you to pay for the weather based gameplay. If you want xmas and NY you will need to buy the winter pack. If you want easter, you will have to buy the spring pack. If you want sunbathing and pool parties, you’ll have to buy the summer pack. If you want thanksgiving and halloween, you will need to buy the autumn pack.. All for the low low cost of £15 each (which people will pay because the initial game was free). It feels like a cashgrab. Next they’ll give us dogs and cats for free but if you want to walk them and train them with them in cute outfits, you’ll have to buy the pack. If you want to take them the vets, don’t be silly…. They’ll have to wait until payday because guess what, that’s another pack. Stupid sht like selling bundles of different dog breeds to us, etc. (I’m triggered, soz).

i really hope they do fully flesh out the base game before they start adding different packs as expansions. some of the biggest problems i have with the sims 4 are bugs that just haven't been fixed in base game either from the beginning or ones that have broken due to a pack conflicting with something. i also think the way project rene is being spoken about it too vague (maybe it's the autism) and a lot of it is conflicting. on the other hand im also excited to see what project rene looks like in the future and wondering about that neighbor expansion pack. what else can they add through that?

I think Project Renee is the new Sims Online. Something that sits with Sims 4 but isn’t meant to replace it. I’m excited about the stuff pack though. I haven’t been playing much lately mainly because I’m bored of it atm. Something like a cooking kit may make me go back.

Do you mean multiplayer? It won't last a year before being shut down. It's a life simulator not a structured FPS. The gallery is already a cesspit with "cute sexy teen" under most downloaded with thousands of downloads and many reuploads. (She's dressed in a basegame version of a playboy bunny outfit). Then you get the Nazi content. They're going to have to completely sanitize the game so nothing untoward is possible Edit might be "sweet sexy teen" haven't checked recently. It makes me upset"

So I do like that they're *finally* bringing some northern Europe things (other than IKEA furniture) into the game. Project Rene is just the code name for Sims 5. Sims 4 had a code name before it was announced too. They're just saying that Sims 4 and Sims 5 will be running concurrently, ie: they intend to still be updating and possibly releasing new content for Sims 4 at the same time as Sims 5. They've mentioned this before.

I uninstalled my sims 4 and won't be playing until something that excites me comes out. I've realised I've played it for years out of habit but it hasn't given me any joy or happiness in a long time. It was a sad realisation to come to. I'm currently looking for a different game to interest me. Maybe I'll return in the future but it would have to be something special. Project Rene sounds like a microtransactions hell. I think microtransactions could work decently for a sims game, but not with EA and their record of releasing lackluster and overpriced content. Also, the multiplayer and crossplatform doesn't sound like a good move for the franchise. The majority of players have been very vocal about not wanting these. Project Rene just sounds very cash grabby and I'm not getting my hopes high for it.

only thing that scares me about project rene from what they mentioned is it sounds like its going to put some of the features into base game i.e. seasons but where you'd buy 1 pack for seasons they will split it up into 4 more for each season because you already have rain or snow in base game. Sims 4 is already notorious for breaking up older sims expansions into multiple EP/GPs, this sounds like its doubling down on this philosophy
