I think it came out great. One thing I found out is as a wood turner I don't need to like everything I do but if it's done well someone will love it.

It’s like buried treasure, rediscovered after a year. I absolutely love the red/pink colour and the way it makes the bowl look fiery. Love the markings on the bowl and quite like the blue line around the top. It’s so unique. Whoever bought it will be delighted with it. I know you weren’t so keen but it’s a good one. ❤

Ob shine juice is a savior at times. Love how you "fixed" it. Glad to see you still doing these up.
@MoonpieCreationsАй бұрын
I love OB Shine Juice, but man you have to sand pretty good to make sure the sanding lines are gone.
@chrisgiftshop3127Ай бұрын
@MoonpieCreations true. I go through a lot of other stuff before OB Shine though. Also ate up a LOT of sandpaper in the past as well lol.

I love the colors. And, of course, your videos are ALWAYS informative and so helpful in my turning learnings. That being said, I'd LOVE to see a whole video on just your finishing process (post sanding). The peek into your chemical process was fantastic. But MORE!!! I WANT MORE!!!

Ken, this bowl turned out AMAZING!!! I know you don’t like it and that’s because we are harder on ourselves than anybody else is on us. I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and I will be looking forward to your next video. One love!!!

I agree with you on the bowl. Some that I do I like, some not so much… but keep on turning. I’ll watch all of your videos Ken. I find great success using tung oil on my resin bowls. Usually three coats, 24 hours apart leaves a perfect finish. Ever try it?

Dang, I haven’t seen you on my feed in some time now and I had forgotten how easy you make that look. I am in the process of making various bowls for gifts as fast as I can (which isn’t very fast in reality) from Modesto Ash, Fruitless Mulberry and Acacia wood pieces from trees on my property that I had squirreled away to cure for a couple years. Oh, and I made a couple bowls from some Hawthorne that I took down on my in law’s property four or five years ago. Man, that is some hard ass wood, I tell you what. Makes Maple seem like common Douglas Fir. Anyways, I have always enjoyed watching your videos and I’ll make an effort to be a better subscriber moving forward. Also, I really appreciate your ending message as I feel that cannot be stressed enough. Some people just need to hear a friendly voice and you never know, it may be just the thing that prevents something tragic, costs you nothing and does a world of good. Merry Christmas, man. And, yes, I am with you on the bowl. It is nice, but I don’t know about the top layers… just not my taste, but I am sure there are plenty of folks that are into that style. To each their own. Cheers from NorCal.
@MoonpieCreationsАй бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! I've never turned Hawthorne, but have heard it is hard as rock. Hope you get hose bowls done.

Ken, don't be so hard on yourself for the bowl not coming out the way you expected it to. Resin will do what it wants to do no matter how many times you have poured it the same way times prior. That is one of the beautiful things about using resin with wood. It's like the line in Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates" 😅. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Stay cool.
