I truly believe the addition of mike as his coach further encouraged this predictable play style. His first two years in Houston we saw the okc version of his game where he wasn’t so predictable. So many times in critical situations I’ve seen him go for a 3 or try to kick it out when a layup is right there for him. It’s either those two or straight up try to draw a cheap foul instead of taking the simple mid range shot we all know he’s capable of making. The simple stuff like taking a mid range to stop the bleeding was what made Chris Paul so effective for the rockets when he was there.

Oh, please. If he doesn't show up in the playoffs, how is he the only guy ever to take that Invincible Durant Warriors 7 games? Last year was the hamstring injury, you can't play with a severe injury like that. This year, it's a new system, he can't play iso ball anymore. Why don't you hate on the right guy? For example, in game 6 that's Embiid who missed 17 out of 24 shots.

Harden average more assists, more rebounds, more points, more minutes than Chris Paul. It's Trevor Ariza who choked, going 0 for 12, not James Harden. Harden went 2 for 13 from 3 but he also went 10 for 16 from 2, plus 7 free throws. Go learn some math, pal.

@@drasconboy6349 If you have a facial injury, don't take all the shots, missed all of them and then blame the other guy. Go learn some math, pal. No, when Chris Paul went down, the team is undermanned, Paul is an important player, without James Harden, Paul would've been swept by that Warriors team. But without Paul, Harden would still take the series at least 6 games. Because when Paul played horrible in game 2, it's James Harden who saved his ass to equalize the series. Go learn some math, kid.

Controversially I think with him it’s a case of boy who cried wolf. I think there have been playoff runs where he’s played well, but he’s been bounced by a better team, often the eventual champion. Because that label is in place and how awful he was this series just past, it well and truly paints a damning picture. He’s by no means a player who steps up in the post season. But I do think this notion he’s terrible is overblown a bit.

Harden’s playstyle was never playoff tailor made because he has no counters. All the great players on the perimeter (MJ, Kobe, Bron, etc the former who people thought he was the better 1-on-1 scorer than) all have a counter if something doesn’t work. Him spamming screen and rolls against elite defense who play him multiple times in a row will know all his tendencies compared to bottom dwellers where he had those 50 point triple doubles in the regular season. He has no post game, and he’s not the best finisher through contact. Add that with his lack of leadership, horrible work ethic, and you get an overrated player.

None of those Rockets teams were favored to win the championship, They were usually losing to better more talented teams in the playoffs, yes he has had playoff blemishes just like any other great, (San Antonio ‘16) (Portland ‘14) specifically, but I think the choking narrative ppl try to apply to Harden is overplayed, u can say the league “wanted him to be a star” but the guy was legit superstar, averaged 29•6•6 in the playoffs against a Dynasty in GSW, one of the best offensive players in the nba for a decade, he’s 33 blows out his hamstring and people expect him to play like he’s in his prime, he deserves more respect.

@@A_Yo_brown he had a good lil 3/4 year stretch getting 20ft a game because he literally the only player with the ball in his hand just dribbling and playing for contact. Yea he could shoot the three pretty good but like I said the dude had the ball in his hands for 97% of his time in Houston. Just bc you watch it don’t mean you know what’s goin on past the surface level either

James Harden game looks slower with more mistakes. I think injuries & mileage play a factor in James Harden decine. Hardens mindset of wanting to be on an already gets team in order to win & wanting to do less on the basketball court also plats a part in his decline as a player.

He’s not able to get the distance he used to get with his step backs. This affects how good his shot opportunities are because he’s heavily dependent on using that. I wouldn’t say he’s not explosive anymore, but more like, he can’t do it as much anymore. This is affecting his production. I wouldn’t say he’s washed, but he’s definitely not a Max contract guy anymore.

It just dont seem possible to fall this quick..so im thinking he needs some offseason surgery and if he come back in shape he will be better..will the Sixers win. Oh naw. But James will play better..

Harden is hands down the most overrated player in league history. Listen, I know alot of fans of the modern nba don't wanna hear this, but he'd be a 15 to 20 a game scorer if he played back in the 90's or early 2000's. Nearly half his points he's scored over the course of his career comes directly from getting calls and shooting ft's that he simply would not have gotten back then, (yes a bit of an exaggeration, but not by a whole lot). That and the ridiculous amount of travels the refs let him get away with. Im well aware of the interpretation of the rule now allows for nearing 3 effin steps after you pick up your dribble, but this is a relatively newer interpretation of the rile. Back in the 90's and early 2000's they didn't call all that many travels back then either, but half the shit that refs let go nowadays would certainly have warranted a travel call. James isn't the only player to take advantage of this, but like with the constant flopping and flailing in order to get a foul called to then go to te line for ft's, he's probably taken advantage of this current rule interpretations the most of anyone in the league. I mean shit, the rule used to be 1 and a half to 2 steps, he'd be called for traveling at least 3 or 4 times a game if he tried doing half the shit he does now if we had gone back to the rules/interpretations of the late 90's. As for why he disappears in the playoffs so often has to do with him simply not being a big-time clutch player, but also due to the significant increase in defensive intensity, so the way he'd get many of his buckets in the regular season simply doesn't work as well, and because he isn't the most athletically gifted player while also a shorter SG - all combine to make his output harder to come by. There's also the fact that he, despite having a string of games in a row where he demonstrates how good of a play-maker/passer he could be, while still getting his own shot, most of the time though he's a ball-dominant ball hog, which makes it even easier for defenses to key in on him in the post-season. He has quite often still put up a good amount of points in the playoffs, but usually at the expense of his teammates. Of course there's also the fact he is literally one of the worst defenders of all time to boot
