Found these old leaked wrestler salaries online just for Conrad: ''Radicals Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn all left WCW in January 2000 and signed three-year contracts with the WWF. Benoit, whom WWF management believed had the most potential of the four, was signed to a $400,000 annual downside guarantee. Benoit certainly earned more then that in 2004 when he held the WWE World Title for five months. At the time of his death, his downside had risen to $500,000 per year. Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn each recieved $250,000-per-annum downsides when they signed with the WWF in January 2000.'' From Powerslam (UK) magazine 10 years ago. Seems like they could be pretty accurate.

Benoit is a tricky subject, however I try to separate the ills of the person vs the entertainer when talking about a Hall of Fame. To keep a talent like Benoit out of the WWE HOF is to damage the HOF because it clearly becomes not about actual careers, but what people will look the other way on personally with a guy vs another guy. I think our understanding of mental health, in combination with drug use, may have us viewing people like Benoit in a different light in a decade or so...I would say similar to the way we look at drug addicts today vs 30 years ago. Sad situation all the way around and certainly a deal that puts things into perspective even years later.

A review of the Radicalz first year in WWF 1. Chris Benoit- Won The IC Title three times, had a great feud with Chris Jericho, challenged the Rock for The WWF Title at Fully Loaded and Unforgiven, was an upper mid carder by the end of 2000. 2. Eddie Guerrero- Won the European Title and the IC Title, had a very entertaining run with Chyna, he would break up with Chyna and reform The Radicalz. 3. Perry Saturn- Won the Hardcore Title twice and the European Title, he gets paired with Terri Runnels, and reforms The Radicalz with Benoit, Eddie, and Malenko. 4. Dean Malenko- Won The Light Heavyweight Title twice, had a great match with Scotty Too Hotty at Backlash, he would turn into a ladies man and do jobs for Lita, Ivory, and Jacqueline.

Benoit was given a perfectly fine title run, Mania til Summerslam isn’t a short run in modern wrestling and he had Triple H and Shawn to share the load of carrying Raw while he was asked to represent the title by doing what he did best - wrestle so his weaknesses on the mic weren’t highlighted. Realistically that’s the best he and his fans could’ve hoped for. Eddie’s run, in comparison, was done dirty.

Going back and trying to listen to this one was literally unbearable...conrad trying to get Bruce mad and talking about shit meltzer for over 20 minutes made me tap out. I really thought I loved this podcast, but going back to relisten is making it very clear that I REALLY dislike conrad and his ways of talking to people. I loved these shows and kept listening because Bruce is an amazing story teller, really funny, and at the end of the day has a lot of good values he stands for. I just started listening to these recently and have been listening to 83 weeks for awhile now as well. Idk about anyone else but it’s really annoying to me when Conrad will drill into Bruce or Eric for the smallest detail they get wrong or accuse them of making stuff up or lying etc…..yet he never calls out his best buddy Dave Meltzer for basing his entire “news” letter off of second hand info, gossip, and his own opinions/agenda. Dave has blatantly lied, got stuff wrong, printed some of his “inside sources” opinions as factual info for his entire career. Conrad will quickly gloss over or completely ignore something that Dave gets 100% wrong or some opinion that Dave has but basically states it as a “known fact backstage”. It’s really scummy the kinda stuff dave has done for years. He’s negatively impacted careers and reputations, ruined angles, created false narratives and drama, all while calling himself a journalist 😂. He’s a gossip columnist who claims to be an expert in a business he’s NEVER been in. He’s proven what Eric and Bruce have always said about him is true with how he’s covered AEW. Verbally blowing Tony Khan, the young bucks, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Moxley and the company in general. They name moves after him and treat him like a real sport journalist, so he glorifies their AWFUL writing, booking, and wrestling. He viciously attacks anyone who says negative stuff about his AEW butt buddies and he buries people like CM punk or Cornette and Bischoff for telling the truth about the juvenile EVPs and the way that company is ran. When Bischoff supposedly let talent run the show, Dave blasted him for his inexperience and said the inmates ran the asylum. When that same thing but worse is happening in AEW, Dave says Tony is a creative genius and mostly everything they do is amazing. Meltzer is a dirtbag who gives bad reviews to/prints lies and rumors about the people who don’t give him the time of day. Meanwhile…For all his “friends”, he’s gives them 5 star match ratings and writes stories to make them look good and bury their competitors. I wish Conrad would grow some balls and stop being such a Meltzer fanboy.

@NotoriousCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Nope gotta disagree with you there. As much as I love Eddie and he's one of my all time favorites alongside Benoit, Chris was just much more technically proficient and could wrestle like no one else's business. In Eddies book, he praises Benoit so much and viewed him as a brother and a mentor of sorts who taught him a lot in the ring. Benoit was the better wrestler, but the reason why Bruce Prichard says Guerrero emerged as the biggest star of the 4 was because he was a great entertainer. Don't get me wrong he was amazing in that ring and once again he is one of my influences to get in the business, but Eddie could captivate an audience like no one else's business and he was so fucking good at making you love him or hate him. Basically he was the overall package whereas Benoit as mentioned on this podcast was a wrestler's wrestler; one of the greatest to ever lace a pair boots and a person who got shit done in that ring and I guarantee you that if it wasn't for the tragedy, he would be viewed the same way or maybe even in higher regard than Eddie is being viewed as now.

This was such a rushed podcast. Could have went into a lot more detail about Eddie.

This was a thumbs up episode until the Benoit segment. 12 years later we all know why he did what he did. With all the brain damage he had suffered and still hating him is ridiculous. He was a victim too, but no one can let it go. I can understand why WWE can't let him in the Hall of Fame but stop shitting on the poor man.

Bruce claims he wasn't towing the company line, but now he's back in WWF....LOL

Just because he got rehired doesn’t mean he was towing the company line. Listen to more of these podcasts. He talks shit about Stephanie a few times.

I came here for Benoit, and you don’t want to talk about him.

ScarfaceFranckRibery Benoit was one of my favorites, but let’s face it, what he did was heinous regardless of the CTE. They’ll never truly forgive Chris for what he did.
