I feel like there was a lot of missed opportunities for tips here so I'd like to name some. 1. It seems like the Mercy didn't really understand how to fly with Pharah. To do this you just hold down your jump button you'll get her passive called angelic descent and slow fall and then when you are getting a bit low to the ground, you guardian angel again to your Pharah. 2. I saw she used the bunny hop mechanic but I'm not sure if it was on purpose so I will list it here anyways. You GA and then space. You can also use this with Pharah in the air and go up high. 3. When you're beaming anyone, you can actually do a full 360 without the beam breaking. Always try to look around to your team mates and for sneaky enemies so you are prepared yourself to save someone but also if you use mic to warn your team mates who might not be paying attention. 4. I don't think this Mercy knows how to super jump and I suggest practicing more with looking around for awareness purposes and practicing the bunny hop and angelic decesent a little more first but I'll say how to do it here anyways. You crouch and GA at the same time, then at the little hop when you get to your target person, you press you're jump key. This takes practice and it's a bit hard to get down at first. 5. Make sure you also look up esp if they have enemies who can fly or get above you like the enemy team had which was Echo, Junkrat and Genji. Also esp if you have a Pharah so you can see where she is to help her. Most of what I saw from this Mercy was they struggled with some movement and awareness issues. Positioning was a little weird but it wasn't that bad considering your whole team's positioning was weird. Beam juggling was a bit slow but I think they did okay with swapping between damage boost and healing. If you see this good luck on your games and have fun ! Regardless of rank, it's a game and you're meant to have fun !
@azureaqua_11774 жыл бұрын
CrazyQuarterPounder When I fly with pharah I just spam ga cause it’s harder for the opposite team to hit me or I just don’t fly with pharah at all since pharmacy’s a little weak now because people know how to deal with it, do you have any tips on pharmercy if my pharah really wants to try it?
@YoSoFunnyx34 жыл бұрын
@@azureaqua_1177 What I would suggest most with pharmercy or anytime you go into the air is to not just go up. You still need to have good positioning in the air. It's important to still abuse LOS from the enemy by using roof tops and walls. While your Pharah peaks over a wall to spam, just stay behind the wall. If you're mirrored, You want to try and stay higher than your own Pharah by using the bunny hop (GA and jump) so the enemy Pharah has a harder time hitting you. If your Pharah goes somewhere that you think will get you killed, it's okay to just let them go off themselves and write them off as dead. If the enemy team has nothing to counter Pharmercy you can have fun and do what you want. You can also do different little tricks in the air if you notice you are in LOS of a hitscan, you can drop quickly to cover, you can angelic descent on and off to be more unpredictable, cancel your GA, etc. Sometimes I even just spaz the fuck out to make myself harder to hit. Sometimes Pharamercy can be extremely strong and it's pretty solid in lower elos where people are still developing their aim and in bronze like this Mercy, Pharamercy is a pretty easy thing to abuse. Hope that was helpful sorry for writing like an essay xD

If she wants to climb, then people will start punishing that kind of movement, so she/he needs to build good habits before they can start climbing the ranks. The saying is that you should always act like you are fighting enemies one rank above you, because only then will you actually be prepared to face them in the future. If you keep playing like a bronze because it's not punished in bronze, then you'll just stay in bronze where that kind of play is allowed. That's also most likely why this player state that they float +-200 sr in bronze, because they get up to a certain point where people start to be good enough to punish these very bad habits, thus making the player lose more games and fall back to their previous rank.

K, whatever, I wasn't really playing Overwatch that much at the time, fair enough. Then, last season I did placements again (in a three-stack, which honestly probably didn't help any), lost all five games, high Bronze. Kk, need to get back in the groove of things, whatever. Then I do placements this season, (six stack first two games, solo q last 3) go 3-2 (won the games I solo q'd in). Placements put me right about where I was at the end of last season (which is why I think having placement games at all is pointless if it's just going to put you + / - 30SR of where you were last season, but that's a different thing completely). Since then, been stuck at about ~1400 SR. High Bronze is absolute cancer to get out of, unless you're a god-tier Widow, Genji, Doomfist, or Echo, I'm starting to think it's not possible to solo-carry enough to get out of it. feelsbadman

And at low elo grouping up and using cover, so as not to be chunked down in 1 second, is Gm level tech. So best to then play an aggro support that can try to carry solo if the team are useless. As I climbed, and my team mates got better, then I focused less on dps and more on heals. In that particular silver game everybody on my team was playing death match all over the map, so I just pocketed the Hog and helped him confirm kills, whilst keeping him up. Big support skill at low elo is quickly working out which team mates are useless and which are actually worth supporting. Cloud: I ended season 18 at 1444 (Bronze). I ended season 19 at 2008 (Gold). I played mostly Mercy during season 19, along with a bit of Brigitte. These are the rules I created for myself and stuck with, in order of most important to least important: 1) Prioritize staying alive above every other decision, even if it means your teammates will die. If you can save/resurrect a teammate but there's a high chance of dying in the attempt, don't do it. Be selfish. Use cover and/or stay behind your tanks whenever possible. Avoid being in the middle of a team fight as Stylosa recommends. Ignore teammates who demand you pocket them by following them into suicidal engagements. 2) Healing your team (obvious), by prioritizing your teammates with low health pools and/or do not have survival cooldown abilities (McCree, Reinhardt, etc). As Mercy, use damage boost whenever there's a good chance your teammate will successfully win an engagement, heal them immediately after the enemy dies. Often it's better to damage boost them even if they don't have full health. If you are playing Moira - healing MUST be your priority, even if your team can't seem to kill anything. Moira can technically be played like a bottom tier damage hero but it takes longer to kill enemies with her than actual DPS heroes, plus in the meantime the healing you could have been doing might have kept your team alive long enough to win the entire fight/match. If you are Brigitte, see rule #1, use whipshot to initiate Inspire, throw repair packs, and stick to cover or with your tanks to stay alive as long as possible. 3) Occasionally throughout the match, use Mercy's pistol as long as it is safe to do so, or if you have no teammate near you who could help you fight an enemy. For example, If Zarya uses Grav, you will typically do more damage to the enemies caught in the gravity well with the pistol than if you damage boost a teammate. The pistol is especially helpful dealing with Torbjorn's turret and/or Symmetra's sentries. If you're playing another support, occasionally killing the enemy will help win matches as long as your are prioritizing rules #1 and #2 over pistol use. In general I think your positioning and decision making is pretty good, but if you stick with the above prioritization you will notice that you win matches more often. Mercy can completely carry her team as long as she doesn't die and uses her abilities effectively.

Thank you :3 before I was always suicide ressing because I felt like I had to ress many as possible
@Real_MisterSir4 жыл бұрын
@@wolkcumulus2547 The key to ressing, is that you should ONLY do it if bringing back the dead ally is likely to win you the fight or at least stabilize it, AND you don't endanger your own life when you rez them. The worst thing one can do, is to rez someone when the fight is already going down rapidly, because then the ressurected ally will just provide the enemy team with even more ultimate charge, they will stagger 10-20 seconds further, you will likely die in the process, AND even if you manage to stay alive and get out, your res ability will not be ready for the next fight in case you lose someone early on. You don't need to ress as many as possible, all you need to do is ress when it matters. For example on attack, you only need to be successful ONCE in order to capture a point. Ressing 10 times and still losing every fight, is infinitely worse than just ressing once, but doing it in a situation where that res helps you win the fight.

I am a Mercy main with over 350 hours on her and while I spent many seasons in plat, I am currently and have spent most of my days hard stuck in gold. With that said, I'm clearly no pro so you can take this with a grain of salt, but I can say that Mercy certainly takes skill, but it is a very specific kind of skill set. When someone says Mercy is a "brainless" hero, that is actually the most backwards comment possible. It's quite the opposite. While most heroes require physical, technical abilities, Mercy is the exact opposite. Her skill ceiling is fully dependent on your mental capacity and situational awareness. You're like a mastermind. Playing Mercy is a game of chess. To be successful you have to constantly analyze the game as it plays out. Three biggest Keys to being successful: 1. Positioning - Always stay out of the line of fire. Use walls and angles to allow you to benefit your team while staying safe 2. Plan ahead - Whoever you're healing or boosting at the time ALWAYS look and know where all of your teammates are at all times. You need to know where you're going to GA to next should shit hit the fan. This also comes back to number one. Along with knowing where you're going to go next, notice the areas around that location so you know where you will be safe when you get to that next target. 3. Comms - Mercy's biggest asset is the fact you have plenty of time to keep track of the game and with your mobility you often have a clearer view of the battlefield. You see someone flanking? Call them out ASAP! Always give info to your team to help them be successful. Not calling out that random flank could cost you the point. Notice a hero hasn't ulted yet or it's been a while? Let your team know to be prepared for that to be coming in. If you're ready for it it's more likely you will be able to defend against it. See an enemy is weak on HP? Make the call to focus them. One less enemy means more chance at a fight win. Additionally, DON'T DIE! This, of course, plays into the keys to success to achieve this. To help with this, learn her super jump. I couldn't tell you how many times this not only kept me alive, but it also leads to keeping your team alive too. IE: Mei wall cuts off Rein. Superjump using another teammate to get above the wall and lock onto the Rein to keep him up. Stuck in a cluster with your team in the line of fire. Superjump up to the high ground or even just in the air to give time for your passive to kick in and get your health back up. Lastly, watch other higher level Mercy players and how they play. You will learn a lot. I personally watch and have learned quite a bit from Vale and Animetic. Their play styles are completely different from each other yet effective in their own way. Vale is a more classic Mercy player. Not many fancy moves or anything and rarely ever uses his pistol, but his positioning and decision making is usually spot on. Animetic has more of a flashier play style in regards to movement and she loves using the pistol to finish people off which comes a long way if you know when to pick your battles. Hope this helps for anyone that read this far.

honestly from ive seen, the only way to climb out of low ranks as a healer (if you're actually good and deserve it), is to group up with some people to at least have the communication aspect and to synergize your ultimates properly. i've had huge win streaks through this method but as soon as i go solo queue i can lose like 10 matches in a row doing the same thing i was doing with my previous group. another way is to kinda go dps support if you have good aim and game sense and just carry the entire team. i've seen baps just take out half the team when they stand in high ground, because low rank players don't understand that concept
@p1xeldream4 жыл бұрын
when i first started playing comp, i placed high bronze (as a mercy one trick). i'd definitely recommend picking up another hero to play like moira, because mercy isn't always the best pick unfortunately. also, one thing i learned is to abuse the max beam length. there's no reason you need to be directly next to your teammates. positioning is key as mercy and if you don't have good positioning, you wont climb. mercy is an easy hero to learn, but a hard one to master. i usually look back at my replay to watch for any mistakes i made and try to learn from that. there's a lot of mercy guides out there as well that i'd recommend you watch!! niandra is a mercy player who makes informational vids on mercy & they're very helpful!! good luck with your climb to silver, you can do it!! 💖

@@Dateow2 In that case, the key is to chose a hero where you can actually get value on your own. Ball is a great example, you can easily get through chokes without taking much damage, you can either go to objective to force a reaction from the enemy team, more often than not in lower elos too many of them will return to the objective and it will leave the choke open for your allies to get through. You can also op to go back through the enemy lines from behind, knocking them off a high ground or slamming them to disrupt their defensive position. Just do as much mayhem as you can on your own, manage your shields and cooldowns well, and try to make enough space for your team to grow some balls and follow your opening. Same goes for dps, get a flanker that can get through an opening and then harass from the sidelines or from the back, to disrupt the enemy team's attention and get them to lose focus on the choke, while your team goes through. If you're a healer, I'd suggest to pick someone with high value abilities, such as Ana, Baptiste, or Brig. If you can stun or sleep an opponent in the choke, you make it much easier for your team to get an advantage and push through. The Mercy pick pretty much leaves everything up to fate, where you just rely on your team to carry you. In lower ranks, maining Mercy has some of the lowest carry potential, because she alone can almost never provide enough value to set your team apart from the enemy. Only in niche situations such as damage pocketing a junkrat or a Bastion, or pocketing a Pharah (on a map which is good for her), then Mercy can actually give a significant advantage. But in average games, Mercy can keep people alive, but she can't make plays or create openings for your team. That means, you're at the mercy of your team, and if you're at the mercy of your team most of your games, then you will just stay in that rank forever. YOU need to be the one to set your matches apart from the avarege at your rank, thats how you climb.
@gremlin33144 жыл бұрын
A good tip for this Mercy is to look in other directions instead of directly at your healing targets. Your beam won't disconnect if you look to the side or up. Mercy is supposed to be the most aware person on the team, and you can't be that if you only look at the health bars. Your movement is also very slow and robotic, and looking in other directions will help with that.
@MsPandaBazooka4 жыл бұрын
Tips these guys could use: 1. Never stand around like that. You need to move around 99.9% of the time. Genji climbs walls, Mercy super jumps/uses guardian angel etc. 2. Attackers are supposed to move towards the point/push the payload. 3. Be aware of your surroundings. Watch what your team is doing, watch what your enemy is doing. 4. Communicate. At least use the interactions to tell others you need healing, you have your ultimate ready etc.

honestly best way to get out of bronze would be drop mercy, she's so dependent on your team which isn't great in bronze. She also requires good positioning from the both you and the team, more so than any other support which again you don't find in bronze. Same goes for Rein he's super dependent on the team working with him and using the shield, not great in ranks where teammates seem hell bent on walking in front of barriers. If you're dead set on Mercy don't forget to shoot things 3 notable times 11:52 Genji 1 right in front of you and you flew to point to heal, 15:30 Echo was low and nobody needed heals, 24:03 Junk was anti and 1. I don't know if the guy/girl this guide is for will see this but my advice for this player as your everyday average 2.8k - 3.1k player is if the person your assisting isn't getting results just stop giving him/her your resources (in this case damage boost). Like with any hero (support especially) you can only give the team so much resources to help them, so give it to the person getting sh!t done. A lot of your resources went into the static Orisa who was doing nothing while your dps & Ball were trying to push. If you put your resources into your Pharah player you likely would of at least completed the map. I know it sounds harsh and yeah it is, but you can't keep giving the guy that isn't helping the resources your other players need & if they die you die. If your on support you might think your main focus is to heal the team but its not, your main focus should always be protect yourself because who's going to heal the team if your dead.

i am a mid plat mercy main and got below 500SR before (stuck in bronze for 3 seasons). How did I climb out of bronze? -Staying alive and save your ability/ult to escape when the enemy starting using ult. -Don't depend on anyone to protect you. If mercy isn't working for certain situations (such as your team doesn't protect you), you could switch to Moira/Lucio so you could stay alive longer. -Read the kill feed, have to know what is going on. -Know the health pack location. -If one of your allies dived too deep into the enemy (1v6), don't need to follow them. If not, your team will lose another healer too. -Prioritized damage boost. it could really change the team fight. (kill the enemies faster) -Don't afraid to use your pistol. Mercy's pistol hitbox is very big and easier to hit any target. -Only rez when you think the fight is winnable -Ult tracking for both teams and predict their next move -Stay out of team fight, they barely even notice you if you aren't there. PS: Not all games are winnable and it is okay. Just try your best. You can do it! It is hard sometimes and I understand your feelings.

Sty, your definition of climbing out of bronze, by knowing how to play your role, is just not true, at least not for a support. The support is at the mercy of all the cowardly Orisas and suicidal reapers. In general the damage category only wins fights with Ults and that assumes they use them at an optimal time. Not likely right? Im bronze again, after 4 years of playing. I peaked at 1870 Silver. In two days it is very possible to lose 500 SR or more despite good support play. Because Losses add up faster than Wins (at least for me) even a ~53% win rate is not good enough.

A beam that locks on to someone with one click and stays on them until you detach it or move it to someone else will grant you more value than a beam that isn't on anyone while just wandering around not sure what to do. 2. Learn the basic mechanics of mercy. Get comfortable switching between your beams, use guardian angel (a lot) instead of staying still. You can also jump at the end of your guardian angel to fly further, but also learn to cancel you guardian angel so you don't fly too far. 3. If you don't need to heal, don't heal. Use your damage boost. Try to prioritize targets that don't need a lot of aim and can still dash out a lot of damage like a pharah or a junkrat. 4. Ressurect is a powerful ability with a long cooldown. Learn when to take a risk with them, and when to play them safely. Always try to ressurect your teammate if they were the first pick in a teamfight, to even the odds. Do NOT however try to ressurect them if you're gonna die, or the team fight is lost. Try to think about where you're standing while ressurecting, look down and away from who you're ressurecting to make your head hitbox harder to hit, and remember that you can still move while using it. Those are my top tips on improving your mercy gameplay x Edit: I peaked last season at 2600, and I'm currently placed at around 2300 after climbing out of silver (1700 lowest) 2 season ago. I as of right now have roughly 166 hours of mercy played, and my mercy stats this season is roughly around 5 deaths per 10 minutes, 9300 healing per 10 minutes, and 1750 damage amplified. Edit 2: Mercy's beam stays connected through a wall for roughly around 3 seconds, and this should be abused. Use it to stay safe. Another thing you could look at in your settings is the setting "guardian angel prefers beam target" and you should experiment with turning this off to see what you prefer. I personally by far prefer having it off.

When they were capping the first point, Orissa stand just one step outside the point. Genius way to let know your team that you will apport the less possible to the team.

It's so sad that no matter how good you are on healer, the rest of the team's plays are what determines your fate

I think it works in both directions. In low ranks like this, most people don't know how to properly play their character, so you're either a DPS//healer with a tank that doesn't push, or a tank with a team that doesn't follow an initiation.

Sty, let me start off by saying that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your OverAnalyzed series! I have a suggestion...would you be able to make a smurf account, get it into gold, and then work your way out of that rank with NO other personal friends or teammates...solo-queue ONLY? I would LOVE to see this. I know you are an amazing hitscan dps, and I'm trying to progress my own hitscan. Rather than watching other people's mistakes...I would like to watch your CONSTANT movement, positioning, and overall team comms to try to become a better player. Keep it up dude! Cheers!!

Stylosa, why don't you ACTUALLY coach someone? Talk to them while they're playing or after matches. It can become it's own series where you follow the progression of someone throughout

People really underestimate how good bronze players are. I’ve seen some widows who have literally squad wiped.

Bronze is literally cancer It feels like you can't win and you can't do anything about it
@Zestinie4 жыл бұрын
Nah even if ur decent, you’ll be on a ten win streak. Everyone in bronze honestly sucks. You can easily solo carry
@RedFlame954 жыл бұрын
What sucks about bronze is when your tank and you push through no one follows and when you are dps or support the tank doesn't push
