I’m definitely playing that last part at super slow speed so that can hear exactly what you meant , I’m sure there’s a subliminal message somewhere in there 🤷🏻‍♂️😆😆. MCM in October 😳. That training block is going to be interesting, and we are here all for it 👍🏼.

I’ve got an idea for MCM - not sure if I can pull it off though. Should be entertaining and I might even get fitter

As someone who has marathon raced in the AF V1, and V2, the V3 would be a great upgrade at your level. I haven't put in any significant distance in the V3 yet, just all threshold/5k stuff, but I never notice the shoes on my feet....they literally disappear. With the weight and bulk reduction from the V2 to the V3...I suspect you would/will have a significant improvement. If you wanna hit sub 3hr this race, ditch the go pro. If you aren't sure....then bring it and work on the content and focus on breaking 3hr in the fall.

AF V3 is the key! 🔑 😂 hopefully I can get some before the fall race

Are you self coached? Maybe look into hiring a running coach to help you break thru that plateau. Enjoy all the videos you put out!

Thank you. I had a coach for the Houston build but then didn’t hire anyone for the interim 7 weeks between Houston and woodlands. I’ll likely hire a coach again for the marine corp marathon end of October

Ran Woodlands yesterday. The weather (humidity) made it tough. Gotta love those cramps at mile 22.

Hit me hard at mile 19. I felt great up until then and was actually considering picking up my pace a little. Then, boom - jog my way slowly in

I kept on pace with 3:45 group for the first 23 miles and then wheels came off. Still managed to get in under 4h (3:56:54).

Good effort midlife! But here i am im just trying get 330 marathon 1 day as 39 year old runner. But living in muggy humid myrtle beach area i dunno, just did myrtle beach marathon and it was 60 plus degrees 100 percent humidity and i hit wall at mile 19 and 20......i just dont do good in humid conditions. Maybe i just need stick to half and work on speed right now......its so frustrating being a runner in this area bec u mostly run cold weather from nov to march and when ever race weekend comes its ALWAYS warm and muggy.......

It’s very similar down here in Texas. My first marathon was Dec 4 2021 and it warmed to close to 70 with 100 percent humidity and I bonked hard. It usually takes me 3-4 weeks of running in humid April weather to adapt - but then also I’m not running any races March 7th-at least October and hopefully November so I can avoid summer training. I think building more volume is the key to holding pace longer, especially as you near the race. So I’m going to base build for 3 months , then do a small speed block before hopping into marathon training. The marathon block will start with pyramidal training , easy, threshold and 5k work each week and then build to mostly threshold and long runs with lots of race pace and volume as I near the race

Hey Midlife yea i bet houston is very humid also. Its annoying bec it feels like last 4 races ive done myrtle beach have been atleast 60 or 70 degrees over 90 percent humidity havent had cold race since 2021.In 2022 i did half marathon october it was 60 high humidity.....march 2022 it was 70 at start 90 percent humidity......then i was all set up to run a PR in the half in october of 2023.......and it ended up bring rainy and 72 degrees at start 100 percent humidity......i ended up running 13 miles faster the week before my RACE! when it was 50 degrees.....its so frustrating, but i hope this next PR attempt in october in the half i can get past it. Im try to get faster this summer in the summer heat. Say do u use weightlifting squats deadlifts and bench press to help your running and core?

Nah, everything has to come together just right on a marathon to hit a big PR goal, and you’ve come close already. Just keep plugging at it and be willing to travel for the right course/weather on top of being at your healthiest.

Thank you Martha! Time to work on base building and speed blocks the next half year before marine corps marathon. Not sure that’s a sub 3 attempt but I’m hopeful it will come in time . If 03:02:24 gets me into Boston I will run that too. I’m enjoying the ride regardless.

How much buffer do you have for Boston? I’d love to meet you! Have you ever considered a course like Mountain2Beach to get your sub 3? Gentle downhill and flat the last couple of miles.

@@MidLifeRunnerI also think only one week of recovery and only 7 after a prior marathon is really going to impact your best effort for an A goal race.

@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 you bring up very valid points 🤣. I have a 7 minute 36 second buffer . But last year was 5:29 and I don’t feel safe lol

Oh, I think you’ll be fine for Boston. The only time it was close to that was 7:47 but that was in 2020 which materialized in Oct 2021, when due to Covid they cut the field size way back by 1/3. See you in Boston ‘25!
