By popular demand, we took our existing dual chamber designs back to the drawing board to design an all new system for the 2015-17 and 2018-19 Subaru Legacy 2.5i. Two different models designed to fit perfectly with either bumper style for the Legacy 2.5i, while featuring our industry leading drone cancelling helmholtz resonator as well as our in-house manufactured conventional muffler for a great sound inside and outside the vehicle.

Whats a dual chamber exhaust and whats it do specifically?

Our dual chamber exhaust system cancels drone frequency in the interior of the car by generating a secondary frequency in the exhaust that quite literally cancels the sound waves that we want to cancel. We do this with frequency analysis and data logging of a number of exhaust variables and then we put that data into a dynamic equation that allows us to build a resonator that will generate a frequency that is a quarter wavelength offset of the offending frequency. The result is a direct cancellation of a fairly narrow band of sound. So you get all of the good while minimizing the bad. In audiophile terms it’s a band stop filter we are generating through a mechanical design. Functionally the resonator is like a coke bottle. When you blow in the top it makes a sound. Add water / reduce volume, the sound gets higher pitched. That’s our equation - tells us how big and what shape to make the coke bottle. The pitch it makes when the exhaust passes by the “neck” of the “bottle” is designed to offset the frequency that causes cabin drone. This has been my TED talk.
